Gail Kim is a record seven-time Impact Knocksouts Champion, who will announce her retirement tonight on a new episode of POP TV’s Impact Wrestling. Kim is the only female wrestler to be inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame. She also had a promising career in the WWE, winning their Women’s Championship on her first night with WWE Monday Night Raw. Tonight, this 40-year-old pro-wrestler will finally hang up her boots and return home with her celebrity chef of a husband, Robert Irvine.
Kim defeated Allie and Sienna at Bound For Glory last Sunday to win her record-breaking seventh Impact (formerly TNA) Knockouts Champion. Tonight, she’ll vacate that title and give a heartfelt retirement speech to her fans at the Impact Zone.
Will Gail Kim Return To The WWE?
But there’s probably one question on everyone’s mind. Now, that Gail Kim is retiring from Impact Wrestling, does that means she’s retiring from pro wrestling for good? Will she return to the WWE?
Back in October 2011, Gail Kim said she’d “never go back to the WWE”. She told SunSport, “I’ve experienced WWE twice now, and I know that I do not
enjoy that place. The second time I really had optimistic hopes and dreams, but I know I would never go back there.”
However, her perception of WWE began to change after Triple H took the reigns over at NXT, and helped develop the “women’s revolution” into what it is today in WWE. She said, “I honestly feel like [Triple H] has done so much for the girls, because he started that whole thing in NXT with the Four Horsewomen. When I left WWE, he was one of the people who was so positive. He told me, ‘You’re talented and don’t let anyone else tell you any different.’ I was very flattered and glad that he respected women’s wrestling.”
In May 2017, the former WWE Women’s Champion said a match against SmackDown‘s Charlotte would be “a dream match.” And regarding a return to the WWE, Kim quotes Justin Bieber by saying, “Never say never.”
