One woman has been killed with three others injured as shots had been fired from one party bus to another in downtown Santa Monica.

Three people are injured, with a fourth victim declared dead from her injuries while hospitalized

The shooting had occurred early Saturday morning in the area of Ocean Avenue and Colorado Boulevard. According to police, the shooting occurred between two different party buses, when one of the buses had tried to drive away from the other.

Of the people who had been hurt in the shooting, three people were aboard the bus, with a fourth victim who had been standing in the street. Three of the victims were rushed to local hospitals, with one of them eventually dying from her wounds; the fourth victim endured minor injuries, though did not need transport to the hospital.

A Santa Monica police station was around the corner of the place of the shooting, allowing officers who were at the nearby Santa Monica Pier to rush to the scene upon hearing the gunshots.

“We had some officers that were on the pier that may have heard it, so they immediately responded and started broadcasting that they heard some gunshots,” Santa Monica police Lt. Saul Rodriguez said in a statement, adding, “So we had officers on scene pretty quickly, enough so to try to close off and set up a perimeter as best we could. But again, we couldn’t find or locate any possible suspects because there were a lot of people that apparently were trying to disperse and leave the area immediately. So it was hard to tell what was going on at that point,” according to CBS Los Angeles.

Four weapons had been recovered from the shooting, with two from the bus and two in a nearby ravine. At this time, no arrests have been made. The suspects have been described as two to three black males, although investigators are unsure how many people opened fire or how many rounds were shot. The southbound lanes of Ocean Avenue were closed Saturday morning due to investigations.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact police at 310-458-8495. More information concerning this case will be updated as made available.
