Darren Drake, 32, is one of eight people who were killed in Tuesday’s terrorist attack in Lower Manhattan. Drake was riding his bike on a 15-minute break from his job when a truck plowed through the bike lane, mowing over Drake and multiple other victims. He is a New Jersey resident, who his father describes as the “perfect son.”
Sayfullo Saipov, 29, has been identified as the terror suspect who drove a rented truck through a Manhattan bike lane for more than a dozen blocks. Saipov has been arrested and charged in the attack that left eight people dead and 11 other injured.

His father, Jimmy Drake, describes him as “the perfect son.” His son still lived at home, and they enjoyed spending time together, speaking about politics and going fishing.
“While other people would take cigarette or coffee breaks, he would go out and ride the bike for 15 or 20 minutes,” said Darren’s father, who added that his son usually listened to an audio book while riding a bike.
Jimmy Drake added, “I hope he didn’t feel any pain.”
Darren Drake worked as a program manager job at Moody’s Analytics. He was killed during his 15-minute break, as a truck drove down a bike lane in lower Manhattan, killing Darren and seven other people.
The 32-year-old victim had recently underwent weight loss surgery, and had been riding his bike 25 plus-miles each day in order to stay physically fit.
He was also a fan of the HBO program Game of Thrones, according to his Facebook profile.
Drake is a 2007 graduate of Rutgers University, with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He later earned a master’s degree from the Fairleigh Dickinson University, and was seeking his second master’s at Stevens Institute of Technology.
In 2009, Drake was elected to the New Milford school board. He was promoted to vice president before transitioning to the role of president in January 2013. However, he decided to step down from his position because his company relocated.
Darren Drake was a resident of New Milford, New Jersey. He graduated from New Milford High School, where he played on the football team.
The New Milford Football delivered a tweet Wednesday afternoon, sending out their prayers to the friends and family of Darren Drake.
