The Minnesota Twins (85-77), returning to the postseason for the first time in seven years, head to the Bronx to take on Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees (91-71) in the American League wild-card game.
On the mound for the Twins, who clinched a wildcard berth to make their first postseason appearance since 2010, is veteran Irving Santana, who has two career postseason starts among eight appearances. For the Yankees is 23-year-old Luis Servino, who will be making his first postseason start. Servino has been on fire this season, post a 2.98 ERA and going 9-2 since the All-Star break.
The Yankees earned the top wildcard spot after barely losing the AL East to Boston, while the Twins claimed the second wildcard postseason birth by winning seven of their final 10 games.
In baseball more than any other sport, momentum is a huge factor in postseason success, so whoever wins tonight’s wildcard game will definitely be a threat going forward.
