Welcome to Labor Day. Hopefully, you’ve already kicked back your troubles and are enjoying a nice day off with buds and family. If you want to know about the history of this day, you’ll need to go all the way back to 1882. This crazy thing called “labor unions” declared a one-day strike in New York City because workers believed that they were working way too many hours. Those on strike were told to march in a parade and then converge at a nice picnic full of food, beverages, and dull speeches about the working man and yada yada yada.
Governments and employers soon came around to the idea of less work for their employees. More free time meant that their workers now had a greater opportunity to go out and buy stuff. A culture of consumers is thought to have improved overall business. So, giving your guys a little time off doesn’t hurt. That includes you, Spankie McSpankerton!
