Upcoming Xbox One Games

Back at it again with the top fives. We’ve compiled a list of our most-anticipated late-summer and fall 2017 games for each platform, and the Xbox One is next.

Xbox One was lacking this year in terms of exclusives, but there are a few titles to look forward to in the near future. Three Microsoft exclusives are featured in the list below, as well as two titles that’ll surely arouse many. (Is arouse the appropriate word? Hell yes.)

Let’s get to it. Here are our top five upcoming Xbox One games.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite

Publisher: Capcom
Developer: Capcom
Platforms: Xbox One, PS4 and PC
Release Date: September 19, 2017

Experience the return to mashed up mayhem in the fourth entry of the beloved fighting series featuring characters from the Marvel and Capcom universes. Infinite arrives next month with a stellar cast, from Captain America and Rocket Racoon to Dante and Frank West. It’s worth a shot even if you’re not keen on the fighting genre. Aside from the Arcade and Missions modes, Infinite will feature a beautiful cinematic Story mode using elements from its IPs.

See Mega Man X and Ryu take on Captain Marvel and Iron man in the intensely colorful and action-packed trailer above.

PRE-ORDER: Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite

Forza Motorsport 7

Publisher: Microsoft
Developer: Turn 10 Studios
Platforms: Xbox One and PC
Release Date: October 3, 2017

The Forza Motorsport franchise is one of Microsoft’s best exclusive series. It’s successful, fun and pretty af. The polished gameplay and stunning graphics make this title and easy candidate for our top five list. Forza 7 will run at 60 frames-per-second and support 4K, so anyone with a fancy TV will be even more impressed. And if you want to be a showoff, you can cop the Xbox One X this November and get a super boost in resolution.

The game will also have a ton of content, with more than 30 environments, alternating race conditions and the largest assortment of Ferraris, Porsches and Lamborghinis in the franchise’s history. There are more than 700 Forza cars to collect, so hope you have a lot of time on your hands.

PRE-ORDER: Forza Motorsport 7

Call of Duty: WWII

Publisher: Activision
Developer: Sledgehammer Games
Platforms: Xbox One, PS4 and PC
Release Date: November 3, 2017

You should be excited for Call of Duty: WWII for two reasons. For starters, the series is returning to its roots. Before Modern Warfare and the rise of frantic-paced competitive first-person shooters, the Call of Duty series took place during World War II. Now with this next installment, the franchise is taking a break from the jetpacks and wall-running (let Titanfall handle that for now) and getting back to the basics.

The second reason is the game’s developer: Sledgehammer Games, creators of Advanced Warfare. Sledgehammer is the latest dev to join the CoD circulation. Advanced Warfare was the studio’s first time at the helm, and it did a kickass job. You may not have appreciated the game’s futuristic elements, but the campaign and multiplayer were great. Sledgehammer proved it’s deserving of handling the franchise, and we look forward to seeing the studio’s first take on WWII.

PRE-ORDER: Call of Duty: WWII

Crackdown 3

Publisher: Microsoft
Developers: ReAgent Games, Cloudgine and Sumo Digital
Platforms: Xbox One
Release Date: November 7, 2017

Hello, old friend.

Last time we saw Crackdown was in 2010 with the release of the second installment. The series fell off everyone’s radar for years until a third entry was announced in 2014 … then it fell off our radars again. It’s 2017, and the wait is almost over. Better late than never.

If you’re not familiar with Crackdown, you’re in for a treat. It’s unclear exactly what substance is in said treat, but Crackdown’s over-the-trop, futuristic sandbox gameplay is dope. (See what I did there?) Players assume the role of a super-powered agent trying to win back his city. It will be available only on Xbox One, so those pledged to the console have something to look forward to. Get a glimpse of what’s to come by watching Terry Crews as Commander Jaxon in the trailer above.

PRE-ORDER: Crackdown 3

Cuphead

Publisher: StudioMDHR
Developer: StudioMDHR
Platforms: Xbox One and PC
Release Date: September 29, 2017

What a beautiful age we live in where an indie game can top a “best upcoming games” list. Cuphead is a beautifully crafted 2D adventure game arriving exclusively on Microsoft hardware. Inspired by 1930s cartoons, the hand drawn art, watercolor backgrounds and original jazz recordings ignite a whole new level of admiration. On top of that, the gameplay looks hella wild. It’s a frenzy of invigorating run-and-gun gameplay with a heavy focus on challenging boss battles. We can’t wait to get our hands on it next month.

PRE-ORDER: Cuphead
