Welcome to National French Fry Day, folks! Thursday, July 13, 2017, is the official date set aside to celebrate America’s obsession with those tasty, crispy, greasy, but oh so lovely French fries. I bet you can’t just look at one french fry meme!
French fries originated in Belgium during the late 1600s. Historians have stated that potatoes were first fried there. These fries were called “Les frites,” which is French, so Americans started calling them French fries (which is also the literal translation of “Les frities”).
Even America’s third President Thomas Jefferson was privy to dem French fries. He referred to those tasty straw-like fried potato as “frying potatoes in the French manner”.
How will you celebrate National French Fry Day? Stuff your face with those delicious fries? Or you can come out to Manhattan, where the peeps from COED are conducting a blind taste test on the streets of the Big Apple. Participants will decide which fast food French fry tastes better. Is it McDonalds, Wendy’s or Burger King?
