The first iteration of Great Balls of Fire seems to be a loading up a strong card with a Tag Team Iron Man Match headlined by Brock Lesnar defending his championship against Samoa Joe. It’s always a big deal when Lesnar is on the card in any capacity so it’s a surprise this hasn’t sold out yet. We also have Braun Strowman looking to place Roman Reigns in yet another ambulance where it counts, in an ambulance match.
This event might not have anything official but it’s going to propel someone to the main event of one of the company’s biggest shows of the year. Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman, and Alexa Bliss weren’t on the top of the bill last year like they are now so it’ll be interesting to see if any of them will be carrying over this momentum into August. Samoa Joe especially, are they really going to give him the top belt in the company against their biggest draw no less. For what anyone would be quick to call a throwaway show, the WWE have a huge opportunity to change the dynamics of their flagship show.
