Lonzo Ball made his highly anticipated NBA Summer League debut last night, and besides delivering a sweet alley-oop pass, he didn’t do much big balling. Watch Ball electrify the crowd with a dime to Brandon Ingram on his very first touch.
After that awesome alley-oop, it was all downhill for Lonzo. He finished with only five points on 2-of-15 shooting from the floor and 1-of-11 shooting from three-point range while chipping in four rebounds and five assists. The Lakers would go on to drop a close one to the Clippers, losing 96-93 in overtime.
But if you thought that LaVar would be worried about Lonzo’s disappointing performance, then you’ve got another thing coming. The ultimate hype man is still as cocky as ever when it comes to Lonzo’s abilities on the court.
I will admit that LaVar is the best at putting a positive spin on a negative outcome. Lonzo could’ve went 0-for-100, and LaVar would’ve still gave him props for being resilient. I don’t condone going to a goddamn Summer League game over the movies, though. That badass Spidey flick isn’t going to watch itself.
