Officials say Terminal 1 at the San Francisco International Airport is being evacuated. No official word yet on the cause of the evacuation.

UPDATE: San Francisco International Airport officials say they’re in the process of reopening Terminal 1 after a suspicious package prompted its closure.

What Happened?

San Francisco International Airport’s baggage claim area of Terminal 1 has been evacuated, officials said Wednesday afternoon. One witness said on Twitter that the evacuation was due to a suspicious bag. Shortly after, the SFO’s official twitter account confirmed that the evacuation was caused by a suspicious package which has since been deemed safe.

No other details were immediately available.
