National Meteor Watch Day Memes 2017: Best Jokes, Funny Photos, GIFs & Images

Tonight, hopefully the sky will be clear enough to watch shooting stars burn across the atmosphere. Friday, June 30, 2017 is an unofficial national holiday entirely dedicating to watching meteors (and social media).

Make a wish upon that shooting star you see tonight. It’ll be glowing red and yellow, radiant and bright. Think of the best request for this fallen magical rock. And on this night, you might get exactly what you want.

Alright. Alright. I’m not the best at rhymes.

Where did the shooting star legend originate?

This legend is believed to have originated between the time of around AD 127-151. Greek astronomer Ptolemy concocted the shooting star myth, as he believed Gods gaze down towards the Earth between the spheres occasionally out of curiosity. While the Gods are looking down, legend has it that stars fall through the gaps, creating shooting stars across the night sky. And since the Gods are already looking our way, they’d be much more open to granting our wishes.

What do you wish for, reader? Hopefully, not asteroids…
