Riverside Mall in in Cape Town, South Africa, has been placed on lockdown due to reports of an active shooter. Police have confirmed that four individuals have been arrested after an attempted armed robbery.
What Happened?
Witnesses took to social media on Wednesday to report shots fired at Riverside Mall in Rondebosch. Soon it was being reported by those on the scene that an armed robbery was underway.
This prompted the mall to immediately be placed on lockdown.
Authorities responded quickly as there is a police station located on the same road as the Riverside Mall. Two suspect were apprehended quickly as police continued to search for two more. Later, police confirmed that the other two suspect had been taken into custody.
Police say the armed robbers attempted to hold up a cell phone store.
As of now, there are no reported injuries.
