The officer involved in the Flint Airport stabbing has been identified as Lt. Jeff Neville.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is currently investigating the stabbing of Officer Neville at the Bishop International Airport in Flint, Michigan as a possible act of terror.

According to reports, a still-unidentified Canadian man yelling ‘Allahu Akbar’ repeatedly stabbed Neville in the neck. The saying, which translates to ‘God is great’ in Arabic, is a common phrase shouted by terrorists during attacks.

via ABC 12:

Sources say Lieutenant Jeff Neville, who retired from the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, was stabbed in the neck and is listed in stable condition. Multiple sources say Neville was at his post at the top of the escalators at Bishop when he was attacked from behind with a larger knife, similar to a Bowie knife.

Neville worked for the sheriff’s office for 20 years, from 1982-2002. He is currently second in command with airport police at Bishop.

There is a line of law enforcement vehicles on the western side of the airport, the entrance off Bristol Road. Those police vehicles are backed up from there to Torrey Road.

The Flint Police Department, Flushing Police, Flint Township police, the state police crime lab, the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office and the Oakland County Sheriff were all on scene at the time of the incident.

At this time, Neville has been upgraded from critical to stable condition.

Flint City Hall and the Flint Police Department have been placed on lockdown as a precaution, however, public transportation in the area is running as scheduled.
