Bob Carter, the father of Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter and younger brother Aaron, died Tuesday night in Florida. He was 65.
Bob Carter Cause of Death
Few details are known about Carter’s death, but it was believed to be sudden and unexpected as both of his sons performed at the Wango Tango concert in Los Angeles Saturday and were not by his side in Florida.
Aaron, 29, posted on social media upon hearing the tragic news.
Carter, 65, was known to have had a strenuous relationship with his son Nick. He also had three daughters including Leslie Carter who died in 2012 of a suspected pill overdose.
Nick, 37, also took to Twitter to address the passing of his father.
Nick has been estranged from both of his parents Bob and June after long-standing family friction and revealed in 2015, “I haven’t seen them in maybe seven or eight years.”
He revealed this to his bandmates during the making of their documentary “The Backstreet Boys: Show ‘Em What You’re Made Of.”
“It was a house full of fear for me. We would be little kids and we would hear mom and dad screaming at each other.”
“They’d constantly be drinking and fighting and we’d hear guns go out the window shooting. Not shooting at each other.”
“They always fought over money,” he added.
Things only worsened when both Nick and Aaron found success as musical acts. Jane managed Aaron and was accused of stealing money from him when the family agreed to separate interviews with 20/20 in 2015.
“Every show we did, we would probably make about maybe $40,000, $50,000 a show. And it was all gone,” Aaron said.
Aaron distanced himself from his mother, but it appears as if he stayed in touch with his father over the years.
