With Sam Ponder making the jump to the MAJOR leagues by filling Chris Berman’s roll as host of Sunday NFL Countdown, Ponder’s previous show, College Gameday, was in need of a new host.
Well, according to The Big Lead, that host has been found, as SEC Network reporter Maria Taylor is set to fill Ponder’s seat on College GameDay.
Taylor previously hosted SEC Nation with Tim Tebow and Paul Finebaum. She has also worked on college football games as well as men’s and women’s basketball games.
Taylor attended the University of Georgia, where she played both volleyball and basketball at a college level. In 2012, Taylor went on to become a reporter and host for IMG College at the University of Georgia and eventually landed herself a position at ESPN2 as a sideline reporter on the network’s weekly Saturday night primetime college football program.
After a couple of years working for the SEC Network, Taylor was tapped to fill Sam Ponder’s roll as host of College Gameday.
It’s not going to be easy to replace Ponder, but based on what we’ve seen so far, Taylor is clearly an excellent choice.
