Tatyanna Lewis, a 17-year-old Chicago girl, has died after she was repeatedly ‘rammed into a tree’ during an argument with a friend. The argument reportedly started as a dispute on Facebook.
Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene on Friday, May 12 after an unidentified woman allegedly hit her repeatedly while she was walking through the city’s Morgan Park neighborhood on the south side.
Police have arrested a 24-year-old mother but have yet to charge her. The woman reportedly had a child in the back of the Jeep Liberty during the attack.
Witnesses at the scene saw Lewis laying on the ground ‘helpless’ after the suspect fled.

The fatal incident took place around 11:10 p.m. in the the city’s Morgan Park neighborhood. Police say the driver chased the young woman along the sidewalk and repeatedly rammed her into a tree with her Jeep Liberty. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
One friend of the victim said he immediately ran to his friend’s aid and checked her pulse, but she was unresponsive. He said the altercation escalated from a Facebook argument.
“The victim and her boyfriend was visiting and I guess the other girl, out of jealousy and envy, followed them over here and it escalated over Facebook from my understanding,” he said.
According to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office, Lewis died from multiple blunt-force injuries. Her death has been ruled a homicide.
Hours before her death, Lewis posted on Facebook about a possible impending confrontation. Some neighbors say the argument was over a man.
The 24-year-old woman, who has yet to be identified, fled the scene but was later arrested by police. Police recovered the Jeep Liberty about a mile and a half away near West 115th and South LaSalle Streets in Chicago. According to Chicago police, the driver remains in custody and charges are pending. Furthermore, the investigation remains open.
