-Kids in this video, I REALLY hope you read this: I hope you die. Seriously, in a couple days, I hope I read a headline saying “Teens Who Jumped Helpless Father Die In Fiery Car Crash.” I would be f*cking giddy. Ecstatic.

-How big of pussies do you have to be to not only punch, but to straight up jump, an adult? Not even fighting him one on one, just straight hood shit. You should be embarassed.

-You clearly got him good the first time. The second time was pure evil. Hopefully the police have seen this video, because your asses will be getting charged with assault.

-Shout out to the girl in the Timbs and demin jacket for being literally the only person in this group of scum to have a sense of decency.

So, what is actually happening here? From the sound of it, this dude’s kid did something and got his ass beat. Dad (somehow? Idk, dad shit) shows up to protect him, and while doing so accidentally hit one of the girls watching the scuffle. That’s when the video starts. Not much context other than that, but I’ve seen enough to have a very strong take on this one: I hope every single one of these kids, ESPECIALLY ole’ Jersey Shore in the Adidas sweats, eats it.

If you could travel anywhere in the world for Spring Break, where would you go? 

I would love to go back to Colorado and hopefully that’s where I’ll end up going this year. It’s my favorite place and I’ve gone there every year for the past few years. Colorado is just gorgeous, and it’s so nice to get away from all the chaos back home and just relax. 

Who do you look up to the most and why? 

This is super cliché, but I look up to my parents the most. The amount of work and love they put into our family is insane. My parents do so much for me and I don’t think I could ever express enough how much I appreciate and love them. I hope to be able to be as hard-working and passionate as they are. They’re the best people I know.

Name one thing on your bucket list. 

The items on my bucket list range widely from silly and small things to things that are nearly impossible and downright crazy. However, an item on my bucket list that I really want to cross off and that is pretty reasonable is to just take a few months to a year on my own and to travel and see a lot of the things I want to see. I think it would be an amazing experience. I love traveling and doing it independently would help me grow in so many ways. 

Which organization on campus are you most passionate about and why?

Super cheesy, but I am so passionate about Chi Omega. A year ago, and even a few months ago, I didn’t think I would ever join a house. Being a part of this house has given me so many sisters and best friends and I don’t know if I could have made it through the year without them. It’s so comforting to know that no matter what I’m going through, I have a family here waiting for me with open arms. The women in my chapter are all so passionate and talented and I’m honored to have them as sisters. I wouldn’t trade it for anything. 

Cliché, but where do you see yourself in five years? Ready, set, go! 

In five years, I will be out of college and hopefully working for a marketing firm doing a job that I love. I want to end up in a big city on either the East or West coast, hopefully not drowning in debt from student loans.

Alex Leatherwood is a five-star offensive tackle who has committed to the University of Alabama for next fall. He’s from Pensacola, FL and he’s a 6’6″, 327-pound animal who will pancake anything and everything in his way. Long story short, he’s the perfect fit for the University of Alabama. More than likely it’s because recruiting trips are f*cking amazing. The schools introduce you to college girls, take you to awesome parties, give you a tour of the facilities, etc. And since you’re allotted nine different trips within NCAA rules, why wouldn’t you take that opportunity?

According to the rabble rousers over on reddit’s /r/CFB, it’s because Leatherwood is visiting to try and steal recruits from Auburn. Apparently, this is a thing that Alabama’s been guilty of in the past. Remember Reuben Foster, the Auburn commit who got an Auburn tattoo on his arm, only to eventually switch commitments and go to Alabama? Or how about WR Preston Williams, who had committed to Tennessee but visited Auburn anyways? Williams’ story is a little less popular, but apparently, he was asked to leave his visit early because he was only wearing UT gear, and was acting as a serious distraction.

But seriously, this would be such a devious move from Alabama, I actually believe it. I can totally see Nick Saban telling Leatherwood to go and spy on Auburn in order to try and take their best recruits away from them. That’s the kind of cutthroat spycraft that helps Alabama stay Alabama.

Cold as icceeeeee. Kanye West has been spewing crazy bullshit for years now, but as soon it became like real and concerning, and not just ‘Kanye being Kanye,’ Kim K. has apparently had enough. It’s hurting her brand and before she was married to West, she was married to her brand. F*ck the fact that he’s the father of her two children: his mental breakdown has slowed down production of Keeping Up With The Kardashians and she ain’t having it.

Following Kanye West’s recent hospitalization and the canceling of his tour, Kim Kardashian has been by his side, but today Us Weekly is reporting that Kim is going to be seeking a divorce from the rapper in the near future. This is just speculation from an unnamed source, as is tradition.

According to the Uproxx, Kim “is being very protective and doesn’t want Kanye around the kids right now,” and though she won’t make any decisions until after West has healed, “she’s felt trapped for a while.” More from their source: “She’s being a supportive wife and she cares about Kanye and feels relieved he’s getting the help he needs.” People has also noted that the couple has not been living together during Kanye’s outpatient care following his hospitalization.

“Kanye isn’t at home with Kim and the kids. He is instead receiving outpatient care elsewhere with a medical team. Kim still seems concerned but is supportive. Kayla Simmons is a junior volleyball player for the Marshall Thundering Herd. Simmons also has over 38,000 followers on Instagram, the most active of which seem to be dudes. So, what gives? Is volleyball becoming a massively popular sport among males? Not really (although it’s definitely fun to watch and even harder to play). The real reason she has so many Instagram followers will become abundantly clear once you see her pictures.

Colin Kaepernick is the NFL’s most controversial player. Some think he’s woke while others call him a joke.

It all started when he decided to protest racial injustice and inequality during the National Anthem, then we had a Fidel Castro t-shirt, some poor performances on the field, and a mid-game benching this past Sunday.

But through it all, Kaepernick has kept his afro held high and remains the San Francisco 49ers’ starting quarterback entering Sunday’s game against the New York Jets.

There is something more to the Kaepernick story, however.

Along with having a negative impact on the field for his team, could Kaepernick be impacting the league as a whole? The evidence seems to indicate that the answer is a strong “yes.”

Earlier in the season, a Yahoo/YouGov poll showed 29% of NFL fans are watching less football than they have in previous years. A whopping 40% of those people said that Kaepernick was their reason for tuning out the league, while 53% said it was the league-wide protests as a whole that had them turning off the television.

The reason was especially prominent in people 55 and over.

Overall, NFL ratings are down as many as 20 points in some markets and fewer fans are turning out to see their favorite teams in their home stadiums. It could have to do with the high cost of attending a game and attempting to stuff your face with $10 nachos and overpriced booze, but it’s hard to deny that Kaepernick has had a direct impact on the game.

Kaepernick gets booed where he goes and has even been made into a pinata and had beer tossed on him, but he somehow keeps his cool. San Francisco just has to wish that would lead to some more positive results in his play.

This week, Kaepernick will once again have a chance at redemption after being benched last week.

The 49ers have confirmed he will once again start, but he will likely be on a very short lease. If he does well, it will be another reason for the pro-Kaepernick crowd to cheer. If he fails, chalk one up to angry folks hoping he never plays another down.

Whatever happens, the NFL will just hope that you are watching and the post-game presser is going to be straight fire.

The New York Yankees recently signed long-time St. Louis Cardinals left-fielder Matt Holliday to a one-year $13 million dollar contract. While the deal has yet to be officially announced, the likely signing means that fans of the Yankees will see the 36-year-old as their primary designated hitter in 2017.

Holliday just completed a seven-year pact with the Cardinals, begging the question of how much the hulking right-handed hitter has cashed throughout his 13-year career?

Let’s take a gander at how the MLB slugger made himself into a $100 million dollar man.

2004-2009

Spending the beginning of his career with both the Colorado Rockies and Oakland Athletics, Holliday played under the league minimum salary his first six seasons. The seven-time All-Star started off making $300,000 during his rookie season in 2004 but saw increases every season thereafter. The total jumped from $316,000 to $327,000 then $380,000 and $390,000 before rounding out to $400,000 in 2009.

Holliday was so valuable that after the 2008 season he was traded from Colorado to Oakland in a deal that included Carlos Gonzalez. Before heading to the Bay Area, the then 28-year-old garnered a .320 batting average with 25 home runs and 88 RBI.

While he didn’t replicate the same success in Oakland that he displayed at the career launching pad that is Coors Field, the slugger was traded midseason to St. Louis in 2009. Holliday boasted solid numbers with a .286 batting average and 54 RBI in 93 games.

2010 – 2016

Holliday would slash .293/.380/.494 and smack 295 homers during his six-plus seasons in St. Louis, leaving the Cardinals satisfied with every dollar spent on his deal. During the 2011 campaign, his second full season with the club, he ripped 36 doubles, 22 homers, and drove in 75 runs, which helped to capture the franchise’s 11th World Series Championship.

On a year-to-year basis, Holliday made $17 million per season over the life of his contract, with $2 million of that deferred without interest.

If the expected contract with New York is finalized, Holliday should be pushing close to $140 million in overall worth by next year.

Ghost Recon: Wildlands is easily one the most anticipated titles releasing in the first quarter of 2017. Wildlands‘ beta sign up went live yesterday and, while no info has been released as to when the beta will start, signing up early may help guarantee you will be chosen. Here is a step by step guide on how to sign up for the beta and enter the open-world, tactical mayhem early.

How to Sign Up & Play

Make your way over to the beta registration page and log in with your Ubisoft account information. If you don’t have a Ubisoft account, you can create one at the login page.

Next, choose the platform on which you would like to play the beta. You can choose Xbox One, PS4, or PC. Double check that the email address associated with your Ubisoft account is correct so they can contact you about your beta status.

Once that is completed, you should receive a message indicating that you are now registered. All you have to do now is wait and hope you are selected.

When Will the Beta Begin?

So, I’m kickin’ it at work, right? Just housed two fat slices of pizza for lunch, so I’m feeling a little groggy. I look for a podcast to power me through ’til the end of the day. I’ve been geeking out on Westworld all week (and also the last 10 weeks), so I dove into a podcast that interviewed the two creators, Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan. As any child of the internet would do, I Googled both of them before listening to, ya know, give myself a little primer on the people I was about to listen to for the next hour. Anyway, one thing led to another andddddd turns out Lisa Joy, one of the minds behind Westworld, is like legitimately hot. Who woulda thunk? Super heady sci-fi and hot chick do not seem like they’d be used in the same sentence, but here we are. Such is the world in 2016.

It’s no secret that Emily Ratajkowski is one of COED’s favorites. Whether she’s popping up in random Netflix shows, wearing nothing on Instagram, posing with Kim Kardashian, or our personal favorite, shaking her butt on Snapchat, if Em Rata is involved, we’re writing about it.

In case you haven’t seen it yet, there’s a video of an MMA ring girl being punched in the face hard (but accidentally) by the loser of a match and the video is going viral. Once you get past the shock and awe of the power with which this girl gets socked, you’ll no doubt rewatch it a couple of times to see whether or not the fighter intentionally meant to hit her. Honestly, he didn’t. How do we know for sure? Because we know who the ring girl is.

Her name is Melissa Lori and she used to be a Miss COED a few years back. Two days after she worked as a Ring Girl for Titan FC 42, Melissa posted to Instagram to tell her fans about what happened and how she was doing. Here’s the quote:

2 days ago I got punched in the face accidentally by an mma champion on national tv. I thought this was a nightmare and I was completely mortified. I have had people writing nasty comments and laughing thinking this was a joke. This was no joke and yes I am lucky to have walked out of the ring with just a sore chin. The fighter and I hugged afterwards and he apologized. Now I can laugh about the exposure it is bringing me. Bang that till you pass out chin of steel baby.

In addition to working as a Ring Girl, Melissa is a published model, so you know that she was probably a little worried about how she’d look the next day. Thankfully, I think she’s OK. But that might be the last time she ever works as an MMA Ring Girl.

In 1960s Baltimore, Tracy Turnblad’s dream is to dance on The Corny Collins Show. Her dream becomes a reality when she earns a place on the show and becomes a celebrity overnight. Tracy’s mother Edna encourages Tracy along with her friends to introduce her campaign to integrate the all-white Corny Collins Show. Two songs that were written for the 2007 film will be included in Hairspray Live!: “Ladies’ Choice” and “Come So Far (Got So Far to Go).” The songs “The Big Dollhouse” and “The New Girl in Town” from the stage production are not in the television version.

Firefighters are still battling the massive fires and blazes that completely destroyed East Tennessee, especially Gatlinburg and Pigeon Hole, but it looks as though they’ve finally caught the people that they think are responsible. From the very get-go, firefighters believed that these fires were the result of arson. Unfortunately, now it seems as though they were right.

According to an investigation carried out by local, state, and federal agents, two 14-year-old juveniles have been arrested and charged with aggravated arson. WHNT reports that the two juveniles aren’t from Sevier County, where they are being held. The court has 72 hours to give them a detention hearing. We also know that additional charges are being considered, so these two juveniles better hope that what they did wasn’t with malicious intent.

Although the damage is still being totaled, at least 14 people died in these Tennessee fires. 150 others were injured and hundreds of millions of dollars of damage have been done. The fire originated in the Chimney Tops area on November 23rd, but a combination of serious drought and incredibly strong winds helped to push the fire way past the point of control.

Okay, so if you haven’t heard, two juveniles have been charged with aggravated arson in connection to the East Tennessee wildfires that killed 14 people last week and left nearly 150 others injured. Let me give you a quick rundown, via The Washington Post:

During an investigation involving local, state and federal agents, “information was developed that two juveniles allegedly started the fire,” the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said in a news release.

Both were taken into custody Wednesday morning and are being held at the Sevier County Juvenile Detention Center.

The suspects are Tennessee residents, District Attorney General Jimmy B. Dunn said at a news conference in Sevierville. No additional information about the youths was made available, including their age and gender.

Okay, so there’s that.

Then, on the other side of tragic and horrible fires, is Derick Ion Almena, the landlord of the “Ghost Ship” Oakland warehouse that burnt down this week, killing 36. Prosecutors are trying to determine, who, if anyone, is responsible, and so far all signs point to Almena.

So the question I pose to you is this: Who do you think is more culpable? Our boy Wyatt and I had this debate and thought we should pose the question to the readers.

I’m not really quite sure where I stand on this one. On one hand, the Tennesse kids directly contributed to the start of the fire, which, to me, makes them directly responsible. However, they were just kids being kids. I used to light fires in my childhood neighborhood all the time.

On the other hand, Almena is a full-grown adult, who HAD to have known how unsafe the warehouse was and therefore that it should not have been occupied. But at the same time. it’s not like he was forcing anyone to live there: the tenants were there on their own free will. Similarly, while it happened in the building that he manages, it’s not as if he literally created the fire himself.

In what seems to be a bit of a strange move (at least to me), the University of Oregon is going to name the University of South Florida’s Willie Taggart as their next football coach. Taggart, along with Mississippi State’s Dan Mullen, was one of the two finalists for the job. Taggart will be replacing Mark Helfrich, who had success early on in his tenure with the Ducks, but in recent years, including a 4-8 record this year to go with a 2-7 record in the Pac 12, was why the school wanted to move in a different direction.

I’ll be honest, I had never actually heard of Willie Taggart before I read that he was going to be Oregon’s next football coach. So like any respected journalist (I’m not one for the record, I just like to tell myself I’m one), I did some research to find out some more about coach Taggart:

Who is Willie Taggart?

Before his coaching career began, Taggart was the star quarterback at Western Kentucky University from 1995 to 1998, where he became one of only three players at the school in the previous 50 years to be a four-year starter at the position, and is also one of only four players in the school’s history to have his jersey retired.

After Taggart graduated in 1998, he stayed at the university as an assistant coach through 2006, where he served as quarterbacks coach, wide receivers coach, and most notably the co-offensive coordinator on the 2002 team that won the Division I-AA National Championship. He then went on to be running backs coach at Stanford University from 2007-09, and would eventually return to Western Kentucky as the first African-American head coach in school history. In his three years as head coach of the Hilltoppers, Taggart went 16-20, including two consecutive 7-5 seasons in 2011 and 2012.

Taggart was then hired by the University of South Florida on December 7, 2012, and his first two seasons did not go as he probably would have hoped as he went 2-10 in his first year, followed up by a 4-8 record in year two. He bounced back strongly going 8-5 last year to go along with an appearance in the Miami Beach Bowl. This year was even kinder to Taggart as led USF to a 10-2 record, and a share of the East Division crown in the American Athletic Conference with Temple.

What’s it mean?

It means that Chip Kelly is no longer going back to Oregon, or at least in the foreseeable future. Personally, I would have thought that with the team’s success in recent years and having the CEO of Nike as one of the school’s biggest donors, they could have gotten a bigger name as their next head coach. I’m not necessarily saying that it was a bad hire for Oregon or that Taggart can’t coach, I was just of the belief that they were somehow going to bring back Chip Kelly. Either way, it will be interesting to see how Taggart coaches at a big-time program.

The New York Knicks take on the defending NBA Champion Cleveland Cavaliers (still sounds weird to write that) tonight at 8:00 PM EST here in Madison Square Garden. It’s a rematch from opening night earlier this season, but the two teams that you’ll see will be incredibly different.

First, the Knicks are on a pretty damn good run if I can say so myself. The Knickerbockers are 7-3 in their last ten games and have played much better basketball than what we first saw in 2016. No, they’re not the “super team” we were promised by Derrick Rose, but they’re starting to gel pretty well. Speaking of Derrick Rose, the Knicks will probably be without their starting point guard who suffered back spasms halfway through last night’s game against the Miami Heat. But that just means Knicks fan will see more of Brandon Jennings, who’s quickly becoming our new favorite signing. Dude just likes to compete and ball. Defense, on the other hand, is not something he enjoys too much. And if the Knicks are going to get a win tonight, they’re going to need to figure that part of the game out.

Defending Kyrie Irving is nothing if not impossible. The only good news for Knicks fans in terms of injuries is that it’s looking like JR Smith is going to sit out tonight’s game and maybe a few others. “The Pipe” recently suffered a knee injury many thought would be worse than it was. Instead, he’s probably going to rest a few games and return when he’s 100%. These aren’t the playoffs. No need to risk anything.

But just because we’re not watching Finals basketball doesn’t mean tonight’s game won’t be fun to watch. Melo seems to be on a tear, Porzingis is astounding with rebrounding, and we’re finally playing like a team. The Knicks are definitely one of those teams that play up or down to their opponents, so expect to see their best against the Cavaliers tonight at 8:00 PM. Here’s how to watch it.

The 18-3 Golden State Warriors travel to Los Angeles tonight to face off against the 16-6 Los Angeles Clippers in a battle of Western Conference heavyweights. The last time they faced off, the Golden State Warriors trounced the Los Angeles Clippers 120-75 in an October 4 preseason game at Oracle Arena. Tonight, the two Western Conference rivals face off in the first of four regular-season meetings as the Warriors visit the Clippers at Staples Center.

The Warriors (18-3), who have NBA’s best record, have beaten the Clippers six straight times, including the last three at Staples. The Warriors are coming off a 142-106 smackdown of the Indiana Pacers, where Klay Thompson’s dropped 60 points in just 29 minutes. Thompson, who scored 40 points in the first half, hit 21 of 32 shots from the floor and eight of 14 from three-point range.

On the other hand, the Clippers (16-6), who got off to one of best starts in the league, have struggled since. The Clips have lost four out of six, losing their last game to the Indiana Pacers, 111-102,.
