Edeka Christmas Commercial 2015 Video

Christmas commercials 2015—we’ll be hearing a lot about them as various ad agencies see this as a big chance to win a Clio with some sentimentality. That’s not just an American thing, either. Every year brings in a slew of European chain stores with their own Christmas traditions of commercials designed to bring a tear to your eye and their logo to mind.

The execs at the German supermarket chain EDEKA, however, have really pushed the envelope. We started watching this commercial thinking it was going to be a tearjerker that was clearly influenced by the first several minutes of Pixar’s Up. No. It is not that. This commercial is something much weirder.

We don’t want to give anything away. Let’s just say that EDEKA’s message for Christmas is that it’s time to return back home — by hook or by crook, it seems….

Doutzen Kroes H&M Christmas 5

Doutzen Kroes just became the face (and bod) of Christmas 2015 by busting out with some sexy seasonal-themed shots for H&M clothing stores. That’s enough to make up for the Dutch beauty now being an official ex-Angel for the Victoria’s Secret lingerie line. It doesn’t quite make up for Doutzen having a real quiet year, but we’ll try to be understanding about that.

After all, the model MILF had a really busy 2015. That’s when she left her Victoria’s Secret duties while staying busy with a a a major Calvin Klein campaign. And, as (sadly) noted, Doutzen was probably also distracted by having a kid last year. But as you can see here, she’s back in plenty of great shape to push some very good cheer as our kind of Christmas spirit for H&M

New Movie Trailers: ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ A New ‘Barbershop,’ and More…

Captain America Civil War Trailer Video

We weren’t expecting much trailer action as we headed into Thanksgiving. We figured Star Wars: The Force Awakens might dish up some Luke Skywalker, but that didn’t happen. What we got instead wasn’t so bad, though. Two surprises, a potential guilty pleasure, and a horror movie that we didn’t know was happening. We’re only 50% confident in our enthusiasm here, but at least we’re starting strong with these sneak peeks…

Captain America: Civil War

Yeah, this one was supposed to be another reason to see Stars Wars: The Force Awakens—but, instead, Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to debut the trailer and complain about Atlanta being too hot and humid for making superhero movies. There’s’s been a lot to analyze here, with the Black Panther making his Marvel debut, plus Martin Freeman barely showing up as the Official Superhero Liaison to the U.S. government. Also, Crossfire shows up if you watch carefully…

Barbershop: The Next Cut

This one kind of snuck up on us—but it’s fun to suddenly see a Barbershop trilogy that carries on with Ice Cube, Cedric the Entertainer, Regina Hall, Anthony Anderson, Eve, JB Smoove, and more. We’re willing to predict this one will become a surprise hit, because we didn’t know that we were looking forward to it…..

Marlon Wayans was overdue to jump on a hit to parody, and it’s not like we have to get upset about him not showing proper respect to Fifty Shades of Grey. Yeah, it’s looking a little like another predictable movie where all the recent pop-culture high-water marks get spoofed, although Wayans seems to be getting too late to Magic Mike, and probably a few other things. We were hoping to see more of Jane Seymour , too. We were looking at some really sexy shots of her from the ’70s earlier this week….

The Other Side of the Door

And here’s an offbeat upcoming horror movie—with The Walking Dead’s Sarah Wayne Callies starring as a grieving mother who starts up an occult ceremony to get some closure with her dead child. As usual, something gets left open, and now evil spirits are busting into the physical world. It’s hard to get scared by a player piano nowadays, but some moments look pretty good. Hosted here by MTV, but not from MTV Studios, which might explain why it seems better than expected….

Final: Stanford 38, Notre Dame 36

Conrad Ukropina hits a 45-yard field goal as time expires and the Cardinal end any hopes that the Irish had of making the college football playoff. A game for the ages. Kevin Hogan goes 17-for-21 passing for 269 yards and four touchdowns while Christian McCaffrey had 94 yards rushing on 27 carries. Devon Cajuste finishes with five catches for 125 yards for Stanford, who improves to 10-2. DeShone Kizer goes 13-for-25 passing for 234 yards and a touchdown while rushing 16 times for 128 yards and another score. Josh Adams finishes the night with 168 rushing yards on 18 carries for Notre Dame, who falls to 10-2 for the season. Will Fuller had six catches for 136 yards as well for the Irish.

4th Quarter- :10 left: Hogan finds Devon Cajuste on a 27-yard pass and the Cardinal are at the Notre Dame 30.

4th Quarter- Notre Dame 36, Stanford 35: DeShone Kizer takes it in from two yards out with 30 seconds left to give the Fighting Irish the lead. Kizer has thrown for 234 yards and rushed for 127 yards more.

4th Quarter- :35 left: Notre Dame is at the 2-yard line after converting a 4th-and-1.

4th Quarter- 1:44 left: The Irish are now to the Stanford 10-yard line.

4th Quarter- 4:35 left: Notre Dame has driven to the Stanford 35-yard line looking to get a needed win for their playoff chances.

4th Quarter- 6:58 left: The two teams trade punts and it will be Fighting Irish football again in the closing minutes of this epic showdown.

4th Quarter- 11:40 left: Notre Dame gets the stop they need and have the ball back with a chance to take the lead again.

4th Quarter- 13:53 left: The Irish are stopped for one of the few times tonight. Can they now stop Stanford before they score again and make it a two-possession game?

4th Quarter- Stanford 35, Notre Dame 29: Hogan throws his fourth touchdown pass of the game with a ten-yard pass to Austin Hooper just five seconds into the final quarter.

End of 3rd Quarter: The Cardinal has the ball at the Notre Dame 10-yard line to begin the final 15 minutes. Kevin Hogan is 13-for-16 passing for 222 yards and three touchdowns for Stanford while Christian McCaffrey has rushed for 74 yards on 20 carries. DeShone Kizer is 9-for-16 passing for 184 yards and a touchdown while adding 112 rushing yards for Notre Dame through the first three quarters. This is going to come down to one final possession.

3rd Quarter- 2:08 left: Stanford is making a run at the lead again with the ball at the Notre Dame 32 after an Irish penalty.

3rd Quarter- Notre Dame 29, Stanford 28: The scoring fest continues as Josh Adams goes 62 yards on the ground to give the Irish the lead with 5:24 left in the third. Adams has 11 carries for 140 yards for the game. Notre Dame can’t get the two-point conversion though and it is a one-point game.

3rd Quarter- 6:23 left: DeShone Kizer has accounted for nearly 300 yards of offense for Notre Dame including 108 yards rushing from the quarterback position.

3rd Quarter- Stanford 28, Notre Dame 23: Remound Wright pounds it in from one yard out and the Cardinal retake the lead with 6:58 to play in the quarter as this back-and-forth game rolls on.

3rd Quarter- 9:08 left: The Cardinal are looking to respond and have driven to the Notre Dame 10-yard line.

3rd Quarter- Notre Dame 23, Stanford 21: Justin Yoon makes his third field goal of the night with a 29-yard kick and the Irish has taken the lead back with 11:03 to play in the quarter.

3rd Quarter- 11:21 left: Notre Dame has come out on all cylinders in the second half and are deep in Stanford territory on their first possession.

Halftime: Stanford 21, Notre Dame 20

Just as it looked like Notre Dame would take the lead again, Kizer fumbles deep in Stanford territory and it remains a one-point lead for the Cardinal after 30 minutes of play. Kevin Hogan is 12-for-15 passing for 180 yards and three touchdowns. Christian McCaffrey has 15 carries for 55 yards for Stanford. DeShone Kizer was 5-for-8 passing for 133 yards and a touchdown and added 84 yards on the ground over seven carries. Will Fuller has four catches for 113 yards for the Irish.

2nd Quarter- Will Notre Dame now try to score before the break or will they be happy just going into the locker room?

2nd Quarter- Stanford 21, Notre Dame 20: Hogan’s third touchdown pass of the half gives the Cardinal the lead back as he finds Michael Rector for a 14-yard score and with 48 seconds to go before the break, the lead changes hands again.

2nd Quarter- Notre Dame 20, Stanford 14: Will Fuller makes sure the Irish get the lead this time around with a 73-yard touchdown catch from DeShone Kizer with 2:15 to play in the half. Kizer is now 5-for-7 passing for 133 yards.

2nd Quarter- 3:22 left: The high-powered Stanford offense that went down the field on their first two possessions can’t get a first down this time around and the Irish will have another chance to take the lead before halftime.

2nd Quarter- Stanford 14, Notre Dame 13: The Irish march down the field again but once again, they are forced to accept a Yoon field goal. This Yoon kick from 25 yards out makes it a one-point game with 5:02 left before halftime.

2nd Quarter- 9:21 left: Notre Dame finally stops Stanford and gets the ball with a chance to take the lead.

2nd Quarter- 10:57 left: Stanford gets the ball back and is once again going down the field on the Fighting Irish defense in a shocking, effective manner.

2nd Quarter- Stanford 14, Notre Dame 10: Justin Yoon hits a 26-yard field goal to pull the Irish closer with 12:26 to play in the first half after Notre Dame put together a great opening offensive possession.

End of 1st Quarter: A wild, high-scoring quarter as Notre Dame is marching down the field again. Hogan is 7-for-9 for 90 yards and two touchdowns for Stanford so far. Christian McCaffrey has 41 yards rushing on 11 carries. DeShone Kizer has completed both of his pass attempts to Will Fuller for 29 yards while Josh Adams has 27 rushing yards on three carries.

1st Quarter- Stanford 14, Notre Dame 7: Another score for the Cardinal before Notre Dame runs a single offensive play as Hogan throws his second touchdown pass of the game, this time to Devon Cajuste from six yards out with 1:54 to play in the opening quarter.

1st Quarter- 7:26 left: Stanford is marching down the field yet again after the Notre Dame score.

1st Quarter- Notre Dame 7, Stanford 7: C.J. Sanders returns the ensuing kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown and just like that, the Fighting Irish has tied the game back up just 11 seconds after the Cardinal had scored.

1st Quarter- Stanford 7, Notre Dame 0: The Cardinal match down the field on their first possession as Kevin Hogan throws an one-yard touchdown pass to Remound Wright with 9:29 to go in the opening period of play.

Pregame

Saturday night will bring a huge matchup for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish as they attempt to stay in the national championship race on the road against the Stanford Cardinal. Notre Dame is likely going to need some help to make the playoff and plays a very talented Stanford team in this one. Perfect weather is expected for the kickoff at just after 7:30 p.m. Eastern/4:30 p.m. Pacific.

Hafþór Björnsson The Mountain Game of Thrones Keg Toss Video

Hafþór Björnsson—aka “The Mountain” from Game of Thrones—broke the World Record in a Keg Toss by throwing a 33-lb. keg over his head, and sending it sailing for 24 feet and six inches. Damn. Even more amazing, Hafþór is just 27 years old and doing this while we’re still trying to find the energy to get off the couch from eating too much on Thanksgiving.

We’d like for someone to either roll us off the couch like a keg, or roll a keg over to us. Meanwhile, this Icelandic giant probably ate twice as much as we did, and still went skipping off to once again nail his billing as Europe’s Strongest Man. Oberyn Martell never had a chance.

Of course, we’re not sure if Hafþór counts Iceland as part of Europe, or if he considers himself to own titles as both the Strongest Man in Europe and Strongest Man in Iceland. We know that Iceland is closer to Europe than it is to North America. You know what? We’re going to go with whatever Hafþór says…

Auburn Alabama TD Pass GIF

Alabama and Auburn met in the Iron Bowl yesterday, and the Crimson Tide’s 29-13 win was carefully chronicled by COED here. But let’s dwell some more on Jason Smith’s amazing catch that defied the odds and became a touchdown instead of a Jim Carrey tribute.

There was a good reason that this year’s Iron Bowl was one of the most civil games ever. Auburn put on a really fine display with their offensive and defensive teams. Nobody could walk away gloating over their rivals having a crappy team this year. Jason provided a great example of that with a TD catch that looked more like something out of a 9th grade recess.

We’ve been watching this over and over again—mostly for the sight of Jason taking off once he realizes he’s used up all of the luck that he’s ever going to get on this play. Now we’re watching it some more, and hoping the NFL will serve up something this fun later on today…

 Natalie Dormer Women's Health 10

Natalie Dormer showed up in Women’s Health magazine, and we’re suddenly understanding why Playboy is willing to give up shooting nude pics of gals for a while. We were a lot more excited about that issue of Women’s Health—and partly because Natalie is willing to get really geeky about both her Game of Thrones role and The Hunger Games franchise. The Women’s Health website got a really enthusiastic response when they asked her who she’d take into the Hunger Games arena with her…

“Oh, god, what would I need to have with me? Brienne of Tarth. Can I cross-pollinate? If I could take Gwendoline Christie [from Game of Thrones] into the arena with me, I will probably be fine. I would run as far into the corner as possible. Just keep running from one terrible situation to another, and hoping that I leg it in time.””

The answer gets more charming from there, but you’ll want to grab the newsstand issue to get more fun quotes from a really solid interview. Women’s Health has a pretty good interview teaser here, though.

That link will also take you to the fine video that Natalie made for the mag, which hasn’t been put up on their Youtube channel yet. That’s a little more troubling. You’ll want to spend time at the site, but we’re pretty sure that you’ll also be intrigued by some of the highlights that we have here—as we get to speculating about a third Natalie franchise, as Hunger Games wraps up its run…

College Football Massacre: UGA Fires Mark Richt, And Mike London Out At Virginia

Florida v Georgia

It’s a Post-Thanksgiving Massacre in the world of college football, with Head Coach Mark Richt (above) losing his job at the University of Georgia, as Mike London packs up at University of Virginia after his fourth losing season. [photo: Sam Greenwood/Getty]

Scoring a 13-7 win yesterday over Georgia Tech wasn’t enough to appease the UGA alumni for Richt, who was finishing up a regular season 9-3. The departing coach issues a public statement saying, “I appreciate the opportunity of serving the University, as well as considering any other options that may present themselves in the future.”

Meanwhile, word was getting out quickly that the coach had been forced out at the cost of a $4.1 million buyout in his contract. Some people are saying that Richt hadn’t even signed the contract yet, but the school is eager to get all this behind them after the Bulldogs came up short of landing the SEC championship. Richt’s final commitment seems to be coaching the Bulldogs’ upcoming bowl game.

Richt had a decent record compared to Virginia coach Mike London, though. The guy accumulated a six-season record of  27–46, with just one winning season in 2011. Plenty of alumni weren’t happy to see London hang around for this season, and any promises for improvement fizzled with the Cavaliers ranking 88th in scoring offense and 98th in scoring defense as they went into this weekend.

Also, he never beat Virginia Tech. Richt proves that rivalries aren’t everything in holding onto your job, but that’s still a problem. Less of a problem—London’s walking away with an approximate payout of $2.7 million through next year. The disappointed alumni may be celebrating the departures, but the coaches can afford a better pity party.

Olivia Culpo: Did Tim Tebow Really Pray His Way Out Of This One? [PHOTOS]

Oliva Culpo Tim Tebow Breakup

Olivia Culpo has reportedly broken up with football star (so to speak) Tim Tebow, reportedly for the reason that Tim is just way too chaste to be having sex before marriage—but he’s seemingly not quite ready for marriage, either, because Olivia Culpo is reportedly frustrated. Sexually, we mean. So we’ve clearly gone past idle gossip here and straight into crimes against nature.

If the gossip is true, then we’re not sure what to say about Olivia going from a manly stud like Nick Jonas to a romantic fizzle like Tim Tebow. We just know that a lot of guys are baffled about why Olivia hasn’t been returning their phone calls over the past few years. We don’t even mean that in our usual self-delusional way. Think of all the rich guys who must’ve slipped Olivia their phone numbers in her glamorous travels. Man, right now those millionaires are feeling pretty bad.

Anyway, after the Daily News gossip item broke about Olivia breaking up over a lack of Te-boning, she went to Twitter and declared, “Being rejected from something good just means you were being pointed toward something better.” We doubt those rich guys who got rejected by Olivia were thinking the same thing.

Oh, well. At least Olivia got Nick to take off his promise ring. Now we’re just going to remember those innocent days back when we first met Olivia when she was a mere Miss Rhode Island with dreams of becoming Miss USA. That dream came true, and we’re sure that Olivia’s dream of having sex can also be fulfilled someday. This is where we’d usually make a sad joke about her having our number, but we’re sadly serious about all of those millionaires in the wings….

University of Chicago Shooting
The University of Chicago cancelled classes today after a shooting threat was made online.

The threat made mention of the campus quad, a popular gathering place, and a time of Monday morning at 10 a.m.

Update: Jabari Dean, a 21-year-old student at the University of Illinois-Chicago, was arrested and allegedly admitted he wrote the post.

Students living on campus have been asked to stay indoors, while faculty and commuters were told to stay away from the Hyde Park campus.

UChicago Shooting Threat

According to a memo released by President Robert J. Zimmer, students will find police with visible weapons walking around campus.

The University was informed by FBI counterterrorism officials today (Sunday) that an unknown individual posted an online threat of gun violence against the University of Chicago, specifically mentioning “the campus quad” on Monday morning at 10 a.m. Based on the FBI’s assessment of this threat and recent tragic events at other campuses across the country, we have decided in consultation with federal and local law enforcement officials, to exercise caution by canceling all classes and activities on the Hyde Park campus through midnight on Monday. All non-medical faculty, students and non-essential staff are asked not to come to the Hyde Park campus on Monday, or to remain indoors as much as possible if they are on campus.  Students in College Housing are asked to stay indoors and await direct communication from College Housing Staff.

In response to the threat, the University will have an increased police and security presence on and around campus, including police personnel with visible weapons and other additional measures. University security personnel are keeping in close contact with the FBI, which is continuing to investigate the threat.

In addition to canceling all classes and events at the Hyde Park campus, the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools, the University of Chicago Charter School campuses, the University libraries, the Quadrangle Club, and other campus facilities will be closed on Monday. The University of Chicago Medical Center will remain open to patients, with added security measures. Student Health and Counseling Services will be closed; students may consult csl.uchicago.edu for additional information. Medical Center faculty and staff involved in patient care will receive additional details later this evening.

All University staff and faculty members who do not have emergency duties or patient care responsibilities are encouraged to avoid coming to the Hyde Park campus on Monday. Individuals with questions about their status should contact their immediate supervisors. We will provide updates at the University homepage, www.uchicago.edu, as more information becomes available, with the expectation of resuming normal University operations on Tuesday.

If you see anything unusual or have urgent questions about security measures, please contact the University of Chicago Police Department at 773-702-8181. Students living on campus who are seeking additional information should contact their resident heads.

Students immediately responded to the news via social media:

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 Review - Campus Ambassador

I’d like to think of myself as a technological “everyman.” Yes, I own the usual suspects: a laptop, a cell phone, a PS4–but I would hardly consider myself a tech connoisseur. My favorite cell phone I’ve owned was my first flip phone. You could set the blessed thing on fire, bury it for a week, and by the time you unearthed it 7 days later, it would have charged itself.

I’ve also had the same laptop since 2011, a laptop hasn’t had an “E” button since, well, I don’t even remember. Not only is “E” the most frequently used letter in the English language, it also happens to be the first letter of my name: Eric.

That being said, I’m still a millennial so I know an awesome device when I see when one. And trust me when I say the Samsung Galaxy S2 Tablet that COED hooked me up with is absolutely awesome.

Fusing everything I need from both my phone and my laptop, the tablet is the perfect device for a guy like me. I really get my money’s worth out of this thing, whether I’m home, or on the road. And honestly, whenever I am home, I don’t even touch my phone or laptop; I’m glued to the tablet. Whether it be setting my fantasy lineup, writing an article for COED, reading a recap of my favorite TV show, scrolling through social media, or zoning out in class playing Madden, the Galaxy tablet can do it all.

To me, though, there’s one aspect in particular that stands out above the rest.

The screen quality is amazing, particularly whenever you’re streaming something. I used almost every streaming service you can think of to test this bad boy out, and it passed with flying colors.

I ripped through Netflix’s Master of None and Jessica Jones in about a week. I caught up on HBO’s The Leftovers on HBOGO. I even downloaded episodes of Batman: The Animated Series from the 1990’s on Amazon Prime Video to see how both a cartoon and older material would fair on the tablet screen (who am I kidding? It was mainly because I love Batman). My verdict: my Samsung Galaxy Tablet is now my go-to device when I want to watch something.

Forget how seamlessly the tablet can connect through Google Chrome, or the simplicity of scrubbing through whatever you’re watching–what makes streaming on the tablet so enjoyable is it’s picture quality and mobility. No matter where you are, or what you’re doing, the picture is perfect, just the way you need it. So whether you’re taking the express train to New York Penn Station, or laying in bed late at night binge watching Netflix originals, the Samsung Galaxy S2 Tab’s combination of picture quality with functionality and mobility set it apart.

I used to think a tablet was the last technological device I wanted to own, but now that I have my Galaxy, I feel like it’s the only device I need to own.

[Editor’s note: This review was written entirely on said tablet, with a fully functioning E button.]

This article is part of an ongoing series the COED Campus Ambassadors are writing to discuss the different ways and uses that millennials can enjoy using the Samsung Galaxy S2 Tab.

A bus packed with Virginia college students overturned late Sunday night, leaving dozens of students injured.

Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller told The Associated Press that there were zero fatalities, but one person was seriously injured and an additional 35 were left with minor injuries.

The bus overturned on an exit ramp of the Powhite Parkway in North Chesterfield County just south of Richmond and the photos are pretty horrific.

According to state police, the driver lost control on a curve, but the cause of the crash is still being investigated. A total of 50 passengers were onboard, the majority of which were students from University of Virginia, Virginia Tech and Radford University picked up in Richmond.

The police statement also identified the driver as Thomas B. Chidester, 58, of Salem. He was reportedly charged with reckless driving.

Lauren Urasek is admirably known as the most messaged woman on dating site OkCupid. If we weren’t so tied up with all of the Tinder madness, we’d have also messaged Urasek on the dating app. I mean, just look at her! She’s absolutely stunning and her Instagram is a constant stream of hot photos. Her loyal followers are forever grateful.

The 25-year-old makeup artist is based in New York City (just another reason why we love this city!) and has since become a best-selling author and blogger since her online dating status became known to the world.

Justin Bieber Took a Ton of Shots With USC Students, Has Officially Redeemed Himself

Justin Bieber – that tool who sings all of the songs your girlfriend likes – may have finally redeemed himself.

The pop singer showed up at a University of Southern California bar over the Thanksgiving weekend to take some shots and party like a college kid. Apparently students had an awesome time with him, despite the fact that the 21-year-old singer can’t make a speech for shit:

Is that a shameless plug of self-promotion, I hear? It sounds like he’s talking about his Purpose album, but we can’t totally tell thanks to all of the mumbling and slurping of that shot.

You win some, you lose some, but either way, it’s pretty f*cking cool that he crashed their party like that and paid for a full round. Here’s hoping he didn’t stop there.
