The 8 Types of College Students

College Students List

As we all know, there are many different avenues to success in this world. There are also many different definitions of “success” in this world. Some people want 14 bedrooms and two girlfriends, others want one wife and a tiny apartment. Some people work hard– the true grind– clocking in and out of a construction site every day, while others sit in their swank Manhattan office, robbing poor people blind. Regardless of how we get it, we all want to succeed.

The same is true for college students, especially when approaching graduation. Some kids take 3 and a half years, some take five, but most of us finish. These are the 8 types of students that somehow, someway, figure out a way to graduate.

uspw_5156722_crop_north

The Natural

These students are just smart, man! There’s really no other way to put it; they just get it. They go to every class, hand assignments in early, and achieve A’s with minimal amounts of effort. They’re like the Chicago Bulls back in the ’90s – they’re better than us and there’s nothing we can do about it. When you see greatness, you must respect it.

Do-You-Believe-in-Miracles-2

The Miracle Worker

These student loves all-nighters. They will push everything off to last minute, yet still excel. They will binge-study for the ten hours leading up to an exam and still manage to pull off an A. And you know what the worst part about this is? They love it. They thrive off the pressure, and take pride in being a 4th quarter, take-the-last-shot, closer.

shutterstock_67484410

The Houdini

This is the student who somehow pulls a decent grade out of their ass after every exam.  They’re the students that get a B on an exam they studied a couple of hours for, when you got a C after taking Adderall for a week straight. They find out about assignments late yet somehow turn them in early. They walk a fine line between victory and defeat, but more times than not, they figure out a way to pull it off. Even if that means pulling it out of their ass – literally.

harold-kumar-go-to-white-castle-movie

The Burnout

This is the student who asks questions like “How much does attendance count toward our final grade?”, or “Wait, there’s a quiz today?”. They probably show up to about 50 percent of their classes, if that. However, if done right, the burnouts can still end up with the same degree as you and I.

eGEH9l4

The Tweaker

This poor student. They get WAY too hyped for exams and whatever else there is to get hyped about, and we’re not talking about the good type of hyped -we’re talking about the slightly crackheadish “I’M FREAKIN’ OUT MAN” type. These students study 3 days for a 10 question quiz. They students treat every assignment like life and death and can actually be brought to tears with a bad grade. Can you calm the f*ck down?! A B on your ceramic pot will suffice!

shutterstock_299382308

The Bare Minimum

This is the “C’s get degrees” student. All they care about is just getting by – no matter the method or the cost. This student has sent their professors a lot of emails over the years, asking for an extra credit assignment here and a .5% round up grade there. They use every single one of their excused absence. It might take these guys five years to finish, but somehow they manage, and make it look kind of easy while doing it.

harry-potter-top-10-hermione-granger-moments-358056

The Hermione Granger

There are two types of overachievers. There’s the Forrest Gump, who isn’t necessarily the sharpest tool in the sandbox (that’s how that saying goes, right?), but damn do they work hard. What they lack in intelligence they make up for in pure effort. Those are the good ones. Then there are the Hermiones of the world, and they are the absolute worst. They’re smart, they work hard, and they make sure EVERYONE knows it. They condescend from the window, to the wall, till the sweat drops down their balls. Think about it: how much do you hate the people that say “Ughhh. I only got a B+.” Go away, you’re the worst. Oh yeah, they also hashtag #RiseAndGrind. A lot.

Cartman-as-Brady-and-Belichick-640x477

The New England Patriot

This is the student that prides themselves on their ability to find loopholes, cut corners, and most of all, cheat. They borrow study guides from other people. They ask you for the answers to the homework, every single week. They use their phone during exams. They copy off the person next to them. You name it, the New England Patriot student has probably done it.

So there you have it: all the different shapes, sizes, and colors that a college student can come in. None of them are right and none of them are wrong – whatever works best for you, we’re not judging.

What type of college student do you think you are? Or did we miss any? Let us know in the comments below.

Bud Light E-Fridge Is The Smart Fridge For Smart Drinkers

Bud Light E-Fridge

We’re big fans of the idea of home automation: the idea of connecting users with every day appliances. We’re also big fans of Bud Light. So when we got a Bud Light E-Fridge sent to us a couple of weeks ago, everyone in the office was pretty excited.

The concept of the Bud Light E-Fridge is simple, it’s a refrigerator solely designed for bottles and cans that will give you a much better idea of the contents of your fridge.

The inside of the fridge is filled with the long, sloping racks you’d see in a deli. The only difference is these racks are “smart.” Thanks to the built-in technology developed by Buzz Connect and Linq IQ, the Bud Light E-Fridge tells you exactly how many beers you have left on an outside indicator without even having to open it.

But it gets better…

Once you connect the fridge to your phone via WiFi and the smartphone app, the E-Fridge will even tell you real-time information on the number of remaining Bud Leezys. This way you can tell when you need to buy some more beers when you’re out at the store, or when your friends are stealing your beers. Both are equally important.

The fridge will even send push notifications to your phone once the beers reach an optimal temperature (which you set yourself).

And finally, the smartphone app allows users to assign certain NFL teams to the fridge, so that the appliance celebrates along with you.

For us, the fact that our boss has connected the fridge to his phone is both a blessing and a curse. It’s great because he knows when we need more beers, but it’s bad because he knows when we’re drinking.

The fridge itself can hold either 78 cans, or 60 bottles of 16-ounce beers. Right now the fridge is only available for purchase in California

UCF Spirit Splash

This week marks the 20th anniversary of University of Central Florida’s Spirit Splash Homecoming, an event which was awarded the Best Campus Tradition in 2011 by the National Association of Campus Activities. Considering our 2016 Miss COEDs from UCF, we don’t totally care what’s going on there, as long as it’s happening and we’re invited.

For those of you unaware of the greatness, Spirit Splash is the nation’s most awesome pep rally, complete with free t-shirts, rubber ducks, and a whole lot of bikinis. Sounds like the best thing in the world to us!

Tomorrow at noon the University of Houston football players will be making their way onto the Knight’s field, their records being 0-7 UCF, 6-0 Houston. Looks like the odds are pretty good for Houston.

Whatever happens, it’s guaranteed to be a good weekend. So – who wants in?!

Jimmy Kimmel Do The White Thing Video

Jimmy Kimmel Live! wrapped up its run of shows from Brooklyn last night, and they did a pretty good job of goofing on gentrification with a trailer for Do The White Thing–that, of course, being the updated sequel to Spike Lee’s Do The Right Thing. It works pretty good. The show actually put together a cast of indie actors who are starring in the real-life version of this parody, and that includes Rosie Perez.

This kind of parody isn’t just about Brooklyn life, either. We think it’ll speak to a lot of folks in big cities and college towns…

But if you need something less Brooklyn-centric, there was also Jimmy’s close pal Howard Stern as a guest last night. Nothing more Hollywood than that, although Kimmel got him to field some questions from the Wack Pack on the show. To Stern’s credit, we’ll say this probably wasn’t all pre-arranged, right down to the appearance of a certain New York politician who can never say no to a turn on camera…

Kansas City Goes to World Series, Fox Called it a Little Early…

Fox World Series Premature

The Kansas City Royals are heading to the World Series after their 4-3 win against the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 6 of baseball’s American League Championship Series last night. That makes things a little less embarrassing for the people at FOX Sports 1 who accidentally ran a graphic celebrating that match-up while Kansas City was still trying to win the game.

Toronto fans probably felt a little cursed after the above image showed up on their screens. It looks like someone in the graphics department got a little excited, or maybe just wanted to go home early. That didn’t help fans who were unhappy that the whole ALCS was buried on FS1 to begin with, either. We know that the idea is to create a competitor to ESPN, but that wasn’t even the sole blunder of the night. We got this on the rain delay, too–but at least someone had a worse time after the game than the Blue Jays…

Carrie Fisher 23

Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia is back–as acclaimed when the new trailers hit for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. You don’t have to be a Star Wars geek to get off on that nostalgic rush, either. That’s because a lot of kids over the decades have still woken up to big-boy desires at the sight of Carrie’s Prince Leia getting adorned in a gold bikini as a slave girl in Return of the Jedi.

Some people will even make the case that Carrie’s turn there makes the final entry in the original Star Wars trilogy even better than The Empire Strikes Back. We won’t go that far, but we’ll agree that Carrie was a major sex symbol of the ’70s and ’80s.

9 Hottest Cosplay Girls You Need To Follow At SDCC 2015

Now see for yourself as we collect the sexiest Princess Leia shots, plus more pics–including stills of Carrie being terrorized by Munchkins in 1981’s Under the Rainbow, plus a look at her MILFish turn in 1989’s Loverboy.

Heck, we even have a shot of Carrie in a Playboy Bunny outfit from a small-screen 1982 turn on Laverne & Shirley with her pal Penny Marshall. We know these pics may seem like they come from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away–but let’s enjoy them here and now…

New Movie Trailers: ‘Daddy’s Home,’‘Jane Got a Gun,’ and More…

Daddy's Home Will Ferrell Trailer Video

Star Wars owned the Hollywood trailer scene this week, of course. No trailer was going to compete with any kind of The Force Awakens action. It’s a miracle that any other film even dared to show a sneak peek in the wake of Star Wars mania.

Fortunately, a few movies still came along–and there were enough pleasant surprise that we’re having no trouble compiling some real high points that didn’t involve speculation about Kylo Ren being Luke Skywalker, or maybe Luke Skywalker’s son, if not Han Solo’s kid…

Daddy’s Home

Yes, it’s the Wrong Guys reunion everyone’s been demanding–and a little more predictable, with bad boy Mark Wahlberg coming back to see his old family and shaking up the security of staid stepdad Will Ferrell. Seems a little obvious in this second official trailer, but still looks like fun. Also, we get to see more of why Ferrell was causing a commotion at an NBA game earlier this year

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

Here’s a second look, too–this time, at the ingenious adaptation of a Jane Austen novel. It seems that our first look was really more of a clever teaser trailer. There’s a lot more zombie mayhem here, and even more of that empowered female angle….

Jane Got a Gun

Here’s Natalie Portman giving us a pleasant surprise by actually finally getting this troubled production a release date. The movie’s about an Old West woman calling in a favor from an old boyfriend to save her husband from some angry outlaws. For a while, it looked like Portman was going to join our list of Hot Actresses in Unreleased Films We Really Need to See. Judging from this trailer, we still might be jetting off to a theater in France….

Joy

Jennifer Lawrence reunites with American Hustle co-star Bradley Cooper and director David O’Russell in what might have been more popular under the title of Miracle Mop: The Movie. Instead, we get Joy as the story of a entrepreneur Joy Mangano, whose real-life struggle to invent the Miracle Mop seems to play out more like a nighttime soap opera. But it’s one with Robert De Niro, who’s also one of O’Russell’s regulars….

The World of Kanako

And, finally, here’s a movie title that sounds like anime, but plays out more like a Japanese ultraviolence take on Taken. That’s a movie that we’ve been wanting to see…

Alabama vs. Tennessee: Game Recap, Stats & Highlights

The Alabama Crimson Tide probably saw the Tennessee Volunteers coming up on the schedule at home and thought it would be a walkthrough. Alabama learned very quickly that things weren’t going to be easy and it turned into a 60-minute fight especially with Peyton Manning on the Tennessee sideline. Alabama got a late turnover and survived with a 19-14 win to improve to 7-1 for the season. Tennessee fell to 3-4 with the loss but has to take home a moral victory being so close. [photo: Kevin C. Cox/Getty]

Alabama got on the board first midway through the opening quarter on a 20-yard run by Derrick Henry, who finished the game with 143 rushing yards. The Volunteers responded four minutes later however when Joshua Dobbs found Josh Smith for an 11-yard touchdown to tie the game at 7 and that is where it would stay going into the second half.

Two Adam Griffith field goals in the second half for Alabama were the only points scored by either side until there was just 5:49 to play and Jalen Hurd scoring on a 12-yard touchdown run to give Tennessee a 14-13 lead. Henry would respond for Alabama however with 2:24 left with his second touchdown run of the game from 14 yards out and it was a 19-14 lead before Tennessee had one final chance to win the game but the Tide forced Dobbs to fumble to escape with the win.

Dobbs finished 13-for-22 passing for 171 yards and a touchdown while Hurd has 92 rushing yards on 18 carries for Tennessee. Jake Coker went 21-for-27 for 247 yards for Alabama. Alabama will host LSU on November 5 in a huge battle of top-ten teams after having next week off while Tennessee will hit the road to face Kentucky on Halloween night.

Georgia Tech beat Florida State University with a field goal block followed by a touchdown return yesterday as the clock ran out–which is great news for GT fans. It’s been a rough season so far. It was the kind of moment that could even make the voice of an ESPN pro crack while covering all the greatness….

But we want to add some consolation points to the FSU Twitter account, which responded in a classy way. We’re hoping it’s run by a college kid who’ll go on to a fast-food account…

Katy Perry Hillary Clinton Idaho Event

Katy Perry had a busy day in Des Moines, Iowa, yesterday–as she went political and  rallied supporters of Hillary Clinton outside the Iowa Events Center before the start of the annual Jefferson-Jackson dinner last night. As you can see, Katy was relatively modest for her public appearance. We were hoping for a stunt bra that shot out fireworks, or maybe at least Hillary Clinton campaign buttons.  [photos: Scott Olson/Getty]

Katy also stayed kind of demure when she changed into a strapless dress for the evening’s dinner, too. Although a strapless look is always hot, politics aside…

But now we’re wondering about how long Katy stayed in Iowa, given that today’s her 31st birthday. We know that you can do some wild partying in Des Moines, but it’s likely that she’s already flown out to some place that hosts the 1% in even more style. We’re sure eager to celebrate Katy’s birthday in style, so let’s relax with a look back at some of Katy Perry’s hottest GIFs–although she’s holding up fine into her thirties…

Hollywood and Vin Diesel Cry Over Distastrous Weekend – Ashton Kutcher Laughs…

Vin Diesel Last Witch Hunter Box Office

The weekend box-office reports have a lot of executives and movie stars fleeing to the desert to lay low for the next seven days, as as every single heavily-hyped release managed to fail spectacularly. That included two modest indies, which explains why Bill Murray and Vin Diesel are both having a sad weekend while Ashton Kutcher laughs at Steve Jobs.

The top three movies for the week will sound awfully familiar: The Martian, Goosebumps, and Bridge of Spies. Creeping in at #4 is The Last Witch Hunter, where Diesel proves that he’s still incapable of launching a new franchise. That’s a (probably low-balled) $70 million production with a $10.8 million opening weekend. We’re talking about a Babylon A.D. level of bomb for the Vin name.

Hotel Transylvania 2 managed to help keep the Top Five even more embarrassing for all of the other newcomers–with Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension marking the franchise’s lowest-opening ever at $8.2 million. That’s kind of a shame, since it’s a really good movie. The big problem there is Paramount trying to rush the VOD, and a lot of theater chains refused to even show the film. That didn’t help.

Steve Jobs fizzled as well with its wide opening, as the big-deal Jobs biopics made a lousy $7.3 million. The big gag there is that Ashton Kutcher played Jobs in…um, Jobs back in 2013, and brought in $6.7 million in its first big weekend. Kutcher’s product probably cost less than Steve Jobs‘ $30 million, too.

And, in lower-budget news, Bill Murray’s Rock the Kasbah got the same kind of horrible reviews that made him give up major productions back in the ’90s with flops like The Man Who Knew Too Little. It’s a modest production at $15 million, but that $1.5 million opening still had to hurt–especially after Murray embarrassed himself with an inept Reddit AMA to push the movie.

And finally there’s Jem and the Holograms–a movie based on a bad ’80s cartoon about neon-colored girl pop stars. We knew there was a limited audience for that, but Jem‘s $1.3 million opening has it joining Rock the Kasbah in setting new records for the lowest money ever brought in for studio films released in at least 2,000 theaters.

So that’s why waiters didn’t make a lot of tips in Los Angeles this weekend–unless Matt Damon, Jack Black, Tom Hanks, or Adam Sandler came into the place. Once again, we’re very happy to not be rich movie stars or wealthy film executives having to put up with this kind of thing.

Amanda Cerny

The MTV EMA 2015 are happening at the Mediolanum Forum in Milan, Italy, and will also be taking over the MTV American airwaves tonight. That’s great news for lovers of ladies of all types–and we’re already kind of distracted thinking about how hostess Ruby Rose is one of those types herself. [photos: Anthony Harvey/Getty]

She’s already made a hot turn on the red carpet, as you can see in the gallery below–along with plenty of other COED favorites. It’s been a very exciting mix of surprise turns by faves like Amanda Cerny (above), Hailey Baldwin, Ashley Benson, Shay Mitchell, and Ellie Goulding. We guess it was more expected to see the likes of Charli XCXVicky Pattison, and the gals of Fifth Harmony, but we’re not complaining.

But the best thing about the MTV EMA’s is getting exposed to some other exciting new talents like Elettra Lamborghini, Tori Kelly, Bianca Balti, and many more. Go ahead and check out the early action, and get ready for a very hot MTV EMA’s about to light up your Sunday night…

Ben Carson, one of the many GOP presidential hopefuls, recently spoke about his violent past and people are freaking out.

The whole conversation started when our good friend Donald Trump called Carson “super low energy,” after the former surgeon surpassed him in the polls. How this is only happening now is beyond us.

Sunday night Carson responded to the dig in an interview with NBC’s Meet the Press, but not in the way you would’ve expected: “As a teenager, I would go after people with rocks, and bricks, and baseball bats, and hammers,” he continued. “Of course, many people know the story when I was 14 and I tried to stab someone.”

For the record, this obviously means he is the complete opposite of low energy – violence is high energy, Mr. Trump, you should know this.

In case you’re unaware of the story – which it sounds like the majority of the American people are, whoops! – here’s a tid bit of Carson summarizing it for The Daily Caller last summer:

One of my friends angered me. And I just lunged at his abdomen with the knife. Probably would have seriously injured or killed him, but he happened to have on a large metal belt buckle under his clothing, upon which the blade broke.

And, of course, he fled in terror. But I was more horrified than he was, because I realized that I was trying to kill somebody over nothing—and that I would never realize my dreams of becoming a physician. And I would end up in jail, reform school, or the grave. And I just locked myself in the bathroom and started praying.

His life has since turned around, but something leads us to believe you might not like him when he’s angry… so stay on his good side, America!

Texas State

Texas State holds a special place in our hearts for reasons like the video you’re about to watch here. Only a Bobcat would think it was a solid idea to put a ping pong ball in his mouth and than dunk it into a cup after hanging from a balcony.

I can’t figure out if it’s better or worse that this guy does it all without any audience whatsoever.

Either way, if you  see this guy crawling to class today you’ll know why.

Astros Pitcher Dallas Keuchel Aims High and Inside In Call of Duty Black Ops III

New York Yankees v Houston Astros

Houston Astros pitcher Dallas Keuchel is just like you. Well, sorta. The 27-year-old flamethrower, who racked up 20 wins and is the American League Cy Young Award frontrunner, definitely has more money, talent and charisma than almost anyone, he shares some of your hobbies.  He’s not above plopping down on the couch, throwing down for some Call of Duty multiplayer or getting pissed at his friends over digital headshots. [Lead image by Scott Halleran/Getty Images]

Keuchel, one of several athletes Activision Blizzard has enlisted to promote Call of Duty: Black Ops III, took some time recently for a Q&A.

COED: What is your in-season gaming routine?

Dallas: The past several years, my in-season gaming routine has consisted of a lot of Call of Duty. The hardest thing is waking up early enough each morning because of the length of time I play at night after games. I will go to the field around noon or 1 p.m. each day and get back anywhere from 11 or midnight. After I get back home, it’s video gaming until bedtime. It’s hard winding down after the heat of competition, so Call of Duty allows me to get out the extra competitiveness in order to get a night’s sleep. Nighttime is the perfect time to get my Call of Duty fix in.

What other pro athletes have you gamed with?

One of the best things about being on a professional sports team is the fact that some guys who you never thought would play video games, actually do. In my six years with the Houston Astros, both major and minor league, I have played with numerous major leaguers. The list includes Jason Castro, Josh Fields, Chris Carter and Tony Sipp. We have played with other MLB players on a regular basis as well. As professional sports is a business, guys move around to different teams and thus recruit different guys to play with, so I’ve played with a lot of different athletes during the course of my Call of Duty playing days.

What’s the closest Call of Duty experience to getting a strikeout and also giving up a home run?

The closest experience on Call of Duty to striking someone out is definitely going on a massive kill streak. The all-time best kill streak was the infamous nuke back on Modern Warfare 2. There’s just something so rewarding about getting various kill streaks in Call of Duty that makes the game so fun.

On the contrary, there’s also a lot of scenarios that will make you feel like you just gave up a towering home run. The one that comes to mind the fastest is letting a noob kill you numerous times and then seeing his kill to death ratio after the game and it is sub .500. That is the worst.

What is your impression of Black Ops 3 so far and what will surprise people the most about the game?

My impression of the game when I played the beta version was a very good one. I felt like it was a new school approach, as the last couple games have been, but it was coupled with the old school feel. I wasn’t a big fan of the flying component in Advanced Warfare, so I was glad to play Black Ops III with only the option to hover around for a short period. One of the surprising things people will most enjoy is the fact that a lot of the maps have action in shorter areas. What I mean by that is you don’t have to run a marathon to go find one or two players from the other team in hopes of getting a few kills. A lot of players will be in areas where there will be a lot of action and that’s the most exciting. Always keeping that head on a swivel.

How does your competitive nature and strategic mind translate to Call of Duty?

There’s a lot of strategy involved in Call of Duty. I’m both a competitive and strategic person in general, so this game really hits the nail on the head for me. When playing with friends in a clan or solo, there are often times where, if you don’t have any strategy, you will not be very good at the game. The competitiveness part comes out as soon as I start the game because no one wants to be the guy who comes in last place in the after-game stats!

What other games are you playing right now?

Call of Duty is definitely number one, but a close second is FIFA. I thoroughly enjoy playing FIFA and it’s a good change of pace to Call of Duty. FIFA is another game a lot of my teammates and athletes play in general, so it’s always fun to compete and play against those guys. The thrill of playing someone online who you don’t know and have no clue about is the best. You basically have two halves to figure out the other person’s strategy and beat them. The competition in-game between Call of Duty and FIFA is very similar. It’s a very good reason why I love them both.

Quentin Tarantino Anti-Cop
Quentin Tarantino is in a shit ton of trouble with a large number of his fans.

The controversial filmmaker attended an anti-police rally this weekend in New York City, where he spoke to the crowd about the NYPD being murderers.

“When I see murders, I do not stand by,” Tarantino told a group of protesters in Washington Square Park, right outside of the NYU campus. “I have to call a murder a murder and I have to call the murderers the murderers… I’m a human being with a conscience. And if you believe there’s murder going on then you need to rise up and stand up against it. I’m here to say I’m on the side of the murdered.”

Tarantino attended the protest just days after a police officer was shot and killed in Harlem while chasing a gunman down the street.

Patrick Lynch, the president of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, issued a statement condemning the director’s comments and  calling for a boycott of his films.

“New Yorkers need to send a message to this purveyor of degeneracy that he has no business coming to our city to peddle his slanderous ‘Cop Fiction… It’s time for a boycott of Quentin Tarantino’s films.”
