Fans of Kurt Cobain, the deceased frontman of Nirvana and subject of documentary Montage of Heck, are about to get their minds blown. While unreleased tracks from the grunge singer were played throughout the recently released documentary, a solo album is expected to drop this summer to showcase songs that didn’t make it into the film.

In an interview with Bedford +Bowery, director revealed,

“The album of home recordings will feel like you’re kind of hanging out with Kurt Cobain on a hot summer day in Olympia, Washington as he fiddles about. It’s going to really surprise people. Just to be clear, it’s not a Nirvana album, it’s just Kurt and you’re going to hear him do things you never expected to come out of him.”

The rock Gods have heard our prayers.

Even with technology and various beer tracking apps, it is hard for me to remember which craft beers I have tried and which ones I have not; many times I am drinking a brew I am sure I have had only to find out I haven’t. (There is always the possibility that I have had the beer before and I cannot remember, given the number of high gravity and high ABV beers I consume forgetfulness is very possible.) But this week I am drinking a craft beer from a brewery that I love but a beer that I never had the pleasure in sampling; this week, Deschutes Brewery’s Fresh Squeezed IPA is What’s on Tap!

Though I lean more towards beers that are drinkable, I also love beers with big and bold flavors, especially IPAs. Fresh Squeezed is an IPA with a huge flavor combination of hops and citrus. Even on the nose Fresh Squeeze gives off the smell of the ripest citrus fruit, oranges, lemons, and pineapples. On the frontend of each sip there is a distinct citrusy taste which is then offset by a subtle, yet noticeable, malty-ness, and then, on the backend, there is a nice bitterness finish (because of the citrus you cannot help but smack your lips and say, “ah!). Aptly named, Fresh Squeezed is the IPA lover’s equivalent of drinking the freshest juice at breakfast.

Because of the brew’s freshness I recommend pairing it with something equally fresh; my go to fresh dish is always seafood. I am grilling blacken swordfish with a side of mango salsa; the blacken rub will pair nice with the hops as the mango will be an addition to the citrus of the beer.

Regardless of dish, this IPA is perfect anytime!

Steve Martin was on The Late Show with David Letterman last night–which was a little surprising, since The Late Show isn’t wrapping up its long run with Dave until March 20th, and we figured Steve would be one of the guests on the final week. That might still happen. It could be that last night was just the best time for Steve to be able to put together an Americana supergroup of himself, Emmylou Harris, Rodney Crowell, Amos Lee, Ralph Stanley, and Mark O’Connor to provide the show’s musical act.

Anyway, it’s always a big deal when Steve stops by The Late Show, and the night had the actor/author/comic presenting two touching tribute videos to Dave. It’s kind of interesting how these two are always at their most sardonic with each other. And we still don’t have the final Bill Murray appearance yet, right? Yeah, that’s coming up…

We already had to jump on a few fine trailers from this past week–including the latest look at Ted 2 and Tom Hardy playing twin British gangsters in Legend. But even though the week has mostly been about anticipating a new Avengers film, we’ve also been excited over a few more sneak peeks…

The Last Witch Hunter

Vin Diesel tries to start up another film franchise with The Last Witch Hunter–and we’re mostly impressed that this trailer was able to surprise us with its modern-day setting. All of the early production stills made it look like the Nic Cage flop Season of the Witch. We guess that’s why this has a modern-day setting. Anyway, it looks fun, and we’re sure that Dungeons & Dragons fan Vin sure liked having a flaming sword….

The Nightmare

Yeah, it’s a documentary–but another weird one from the guy who made Room 237, which was about being an obsessive fan of The Shining. This one is about people who suffer from sleep paralysis, which is a condition which makes you feel like you’re waking up in a horror movie. To illustrate this, the movie pretty much plays like a horror movie. At the very least, that makes for a really cool trailer…

Irrational Man

Woody Allen makes a movie about a frustrated middle-age man who rediscovers his creative spark by having sex with a young woman. Possibly inspired by a true story, just like a lot of other movies that Woody has made over the years. At least he’s recasting himself in a younger version with Joaquin Phoenix instead of Larry David, so it’s more believable when the hot babe is Emma Stone….

Insidious: Chapter 3 (International Trailer)

Yeah, we’re still excited three chapters in–and glad that the franchise is going with a prequel, since the hauntings of the first two movies kind of played out in a logical way. We know this is just more scary shadows and calculated creepiness, but it’s working. Maybe even all over the world…

The canceled TV programs of 2015–yes, it’s that most horrible time of the year when we start getting the news that our beloved favorites are wrapping up production, and we can no longer watch them in whatever way people are watching television nowadays.

The start of May is when the body count really starts rising, too–and we’re very sad to announce that one of the early fatalities is a show that features a lot of our favorite bodies. Yes, it’s a sad goodbye to the sex-crazed Syfy series Lost Girl, which is about a sexy succubus played by Anna Silk, whose lesbian lovers include Zoie Palmer, and we were also fond of Emmanuelle Vaugier as a recurring sex demon.

Furthermore, Lost Girl gave us supernaturally sexy guest turns by the likes of Mia Kirshner, Ali Liebert. and Rachel Skarsten. We highly recommend all of those links to properly appreciate why no new technology could keep us from rushing home to see Lost Girl on a Monday night. Well, except for the technology that let us swipe advance looks at the Canadian series, but why bring that up?

Also officially dead to your televisions this week: Revenge (ABC), Helix (Syfy) and Aqua Teen Hunger Force (Adult Swim)–although Aqua Teen Hunger Force is wrapping things up with a forthcoming 13th season, so it’s likely that the show’s creators were probably already ready to finish up that epic series.

Helix is no great loss, but we’ll miss Luciana Carro. This final season of Revenge has graced us with vengeful vixens like Karin Vanasse, Elena Satine, Bree Condon, and Shannon Barney.  We wouldn’t have minded another season of that kind of spectacle.

Anyway, that’s what’s making us sad this week–and we’ll keep an eye on the following shows, all of which will most likely get their own death notices in the next few weeks. But probably now in alphabetical order…

The Great Gronkowski clearly still emerged as the day’s biggest display of sartorial splendor–and here’s a pic of the whole outfit, so you can see Gronkowski went all-out for fashion just like he does on the field…

Floyd Mayweather beat Manny Pacquiao last night in a really crappy boxing match that a lot of people spent way too much money to watch. For those who missed it–well, Manny came in to fight, and then Floyd ran around the ring a lot, and came in close for a clinch with Manny whenever he could, and this went on for 12 rounds until Floyd was declared the winner and a lot of people jeered because Floyd put on a really crappy fight.

Also, he was hanging out with Justin Bieber before the match.

Anyway, Floyd “Huggy Bear” Mayweather beat Manny Pacquiao last night, but he’s not exactly draped in glory. There’s just not a lot of enthusiasm for the world of boxing right now–which is sad, because this could’ve been a great fight. The only people really happy this morning are the strippers at whatever club Floyd went to afterwards, and anyone who got really good odds with a bookie who was convinced Manny was going to win.

Scarlett Johansson hosted Saturday Night Live, and it wasn’t so bad. It would’ve been a little more hip if she’d also been the musical guest instead of Wiz Khalifa, but it’s kind of amazing Scarlett even had the energy to host in the midst of being a new mom and pushing Avengers: Age of Ultron.

And we’ll give SNL some credit for just not hacking out an Ultron parody that was all about having the cast trot their celebrity impersonations. Instead, we got a look at the trailer for the first Black Widow standalone movie–which is probably very close to what FOX would do with the character if they owned the rights. We hate to give away more than we already have, so just have some fun with it…

And, yes, now we’d like to see more of Scarlett Johansson this morning. Hey, here’s a lot of her sexiest GIFs…

Also representing: big boxing fan Paris Hilton, and pop diva Mary J. Blige. The world of boxing movie stars was represented by Robert De Niro (of Raging Bull fame) and Mark Wahlberg (of an Oscar-winning movie that a lot of people have still already forgotten.)

Tom Brady had a busy day, since he must’ve flew right in to Vegas after hanging out with Rob Gronkowski at the Kentucky Derby. Reggie Miller and Charles Barkley were also in attendance, and Jamie Foxx appeared in a professional capacity to sing the national anthem because America is obviously great. The actual match wasn’t, but these people are all too rich to care…

Christina Hendricks is in the final stretch of her Mad Men series–and we’re down to the last three episodes starting tonight. It’s also her birthday, and we’d rather not say how old she is now. We’ll just note that Mad Men must have had a longer run than we realized.

Anyway, it’s hard to believe that Christina Hendricks was kind of toiling in obscurity before Mad Men happened. There were a few early users (so to speak) of Christina’s star power, but she kind of plugged along as a small-screen regular. Then she busted out as ambitious office manager Joan Holloway on AMC’s first hit series.

Joan Holloway became Joan Harris, and a partner in the various ad agencies that the Mad Men formed over the years. The high point of Christina Hendricks’ film career was 2011’s Drive with Ryan Gosling. We have a difficult time believing that Christina will be back to regular small-screen roles, though–even as she is getting older. The first official shot of the villainous gang from DC’s upcoming Suicide Squad is out–because we’re already all tired of hearing about those superheroes in The Avengers, right? Anyway, the big news is that Margot Robbie doesn’t look too bad as Harley Quinn. We mean, Margot usually looks hot, and so do lots of Harley Quinn cosplay girls, but the entire thing isn’t bungled here like with the Suicide Squad take on The Joker.

Also representing: Cara Delevingne still looking very well cast as Enchantress, and Karen Fukuhara in the white mask as Plastique. The guys, from left to right: Adam Beach (as Slipknot), Jai Courtney (as Captain Boomerang), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flagg), Will Smith (Deadshot), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), and Jay Hernandez (hmmm..maybe El Diablo, or maybe just a henchman who peaked in high school).

Anyway, this is a little less traumatic than that Joker shot, and now we’re hoping Jared Leto’s absence in this pic means we won’t see much of him in the movie, either. We won’t find out until 2016, anyway. But we can still enjoy some Margo Robbie GIFs…

Pets are loving and caring, and can be an owner’s best friend. And just like your best friend, owner’s spoil their pets almost to the point where it begins to be ridiculous (and kind of foul). In this case, that’s exactly what happened.

The sports world has plenty of power couples, one of the biggest being Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn. But sadly over the weekend it was made officially that the three year love affair is caput. Vonn made her announcement on Facebook while Woods posted on his website.

It seemed like those two were meant for each other – not to mention, everything looked just fine up to a month ago. Vonn had been at The Masters with Woods and his two children just last month. Evidently the sparks burned out.

The two will move onto bigger and better things, and hopefully the separation helps each of them achieve their next goals in golf and skiing. The next question is obvious: which athlete will Woods try to go out with next? Hopefully someone as hot and talented as Vonn.

With the NFL draft now in the rearview mirror, the dust is settling and stories are surfacing about players and places they didn’t want to go – specifically from former Louisville wide receiver DeVante Parker. Parker’s mom Raneca had some very strong words to say about an AFC team different than the Dolphins, which Parker was drafted by in the first round Thursday night.

Raneca Parker told the Miami Herald, “We didn’t want him going to Cleveland. They don’t have a team, really, or a quarterback. I knew I didn’t want the Cleveland Browns.” Ouch.

Considering how harsh the words are, we would’ve liked to see the Dolphins play in Cleveland this season, and see Parker’s mom have to face those fans. The time will come – eventually.

Hopefully Parker is as good as his mom thinks he is, or he’s going to have some heavy sh*t on his hands.

Mumford & Sons’ new album Wilder Mind dropped today and it’s music to our ears. Like, literally. But the follow-up to their 2012 Babel will deliver fans what they’ve been waiting several years for: soul guitar rips and awesome lyrics.

In a recent interview with Consequence of Sound, frontman Marcus Mumford explained the new album, stating, “We grew up with Oasis on in the background and Yamaha Pacificas plugged into sh*tty amps. We kind of borrowed acoustic instruments and did what we did for a while,” then added that “it all got slightly out of hand.” The sound might be a little off-kilter, but it still holds its own.
