Cohen is a native of Long Island; his father was a survivor of the Holocaust and Cohen was raised Jewish. Attending Lawrence Woodmere Academy, he later earned his bachelors degree from American University in 1988; during this time, Cohen volunteered for the 1988 presidential campaign of Michael Dukakis and was an intern for Congressman Joe Moakley. He later earned his JD from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1991.

1992-2007

Cohen started his legal career by practicing personal injury law in New York in 1992 for Melvyn Estrin in Manhattan. By 2003, he served as an attorney in private practice, a New York City Council candidate and CEO of MLA Cruises, Inc., and of the Atlantic Casino. In 2006, Cohen was a lawyer at the law firm Phillips Nizer LLP; within a year, however, he went on to work for The Trump Organization and became a close confidant for Donald Trump during this time, even maintaining an office near Trump at Trump Tower.

2008-Present

In 2008, Cohen was named COO of the MMA promotion Affliction Entertainment. Throughout the early 2010’s, he also branched out into real estate, buying and selling apartment buildings in Manhattan. By 2015, he also purchased an Upper East Side apartment building for $58 million. While as an executive at the Trump Organization, Cohen drafted the website “Should Trump Run?” to gather information after Trump toyed with the idea of running for the 2012 Republican Party presidential nomination. By 2013, he became involved in an incident in which he wrote an email to The Onion concerning a news article over Trump that he deemed defamatory. In 2018, he became the subject of an investigation in concerning the Stormy Daniels-Donald Trump scandal, with allegations that Cohen paid money to Daniels out of his own money to keep quiet about an alleged affair with Trump, which the White House denies took place; at one point, Cohen’s lawyer issued a cease-and-desist letter claiming Daniels’ statements constituted libel against him. Later in the year, however, it was announced that Cohen was no longer serving as Trump’s lawyer.

Stephen A. Smith is one of the most polarizing figures in sports media. Some people love him, some people hate him, and that’s what makes him so successful: it’s almost impossible to be indifferent about Stephen A. and his antics.

I, personally, am a huge Stephen A. Smith guy and always have been. He keeps it real, says what he believes, and is a New York guy, which is basically enough for me to give you the benefit of the doubt. Plus, in doses, he’s legitimately hilarious. Whether you appreciate what Stephen A. brings to the table or not, you have to at least respect that he’s created a successful character and has been running with it since.

Phi Kappa Psi at Ohio State University has been suspended four years due to hazing. According to the university, the fraternity has been suspended until August 2022 after an investigation by Student Life’s department of Student Conduct found that the fraternity was violating the Code of Student Conduct.

A statement from the university said that the fraternity was investigated twice for code of conduct violations during the 2017-18 school year. The chapter was placed on Cease & Desist in November 2017 and was placed on a two-year probation for violations including hazing, endangering behavior, and alcohol in March 2018.

The members of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity were informed of the suspension on Tuesday, June 12, and have several days to appeal the suspension. OSU said that the fraternity may petition the Office of Student Life to return to campus when their suspension is over in 2022.

The Phi Kappa Psi chapter was one of 11 fraternities under investigation in November 2017 when Ohio State imposed a temporary blanket suspension on all 37 of its fraternities.

This is the latest major fraternity or sorority suspension or closure in the last year, as schools such as Indiana University, the University of Michigan, Ohio State University, Texas State, Florida State, Ball State, Louisiana State and Penn State have all suspended fraternities in the wake of hazing and alcohol deaths.

These reports come amidst similar allegations that have been made against fraternities nationwide, including Sigma Alpha Epsilon at East Carolina University, who were shut down for hazing and the Lamda Chi Alpha chapter at the University of Arkansas which has been accused of taking sexually explicit photographs of women without their permission.

In response to incidents like these, fraternities such Phi Kappa Psi have made numerous changes to their code of conduct in an effort to address the issues that have arisen. In addition, schools such as Texas State have introduced new Greek Life rules to try and prevent these problems.

Ryan Burke, a former Penn State University fraternity brother at Beta Theta Pi, has entered the first guilty plea in the death of Timothy Piazza, a pledge who was fatally injured after a night of heavy drinking and hazing on February 4, 2017.

According to the Centre Daily Times, 21-year-old Ryan Burke of Scranton, Pennsylvania, pleaded guilty to all nine remaining charges he faced, including four misdemeanor counts of hazing, on Wednesday, June 13. Burke, who was accused of giving Piazza a bottle of vodka at the party, will be sentenced July 31.

Burke gave Piazza a handle of vodka to drink eight minutes before State College police detective David Scicchitano observed Piazza to be visibly intoxicated on video. The drink was one of 18 Piazza consumed in a span of 82 minutes before falling down the basement steps and becoming unconscious.

The 21-year-old Scranton native pleaded guilty to all nine charges — including four counts of hazing — bound over for trial by District Judge Steven Lachman in May. Lachman’s ruling dismissed four counts of furnishing liquor to minors and one count of recklessly endangering another person.

Three charges — aggravated assault, involuntary manslaughter and simple assault — were withdrawn by Attorney General Josh Shapiro’s office prior to Burke’s preliminary hearing. Shapiro’s office accepted the case after District Attorney Bernie Cantorna cited a conflict of interest. Masorti said he did not ask for a plea agreement and none was offered by Chief Deputy Attorney General Brian Zarallo.

He also played football and track when he was in high school. He was a member of the homecoming court in 2014, and also served as a Red Devil ambassador at Hunterdon Center and on the school’s Teen Prevention Education Program. He did volunteer work to help teach children with special needs how to play sports such as football, basketball, and baseball.

Piazza’s death spurred a cascade of changes in the Penn State greek life community. The school levied hard sanctions against greek life focused on hazing. These changes altered the rules for how fraternities and sororities can recruit members and host social events with alcohol. Beta Theta Pi was also permanently banned from Penn State.

A Walmart in Clinton, Utah is being evacuated. Reports of a man with a gun inside the store. Authorities are asking civilians to avoid the area. The Walmart is located at 1632 N 2000 W, Clinton, Utah. Emergency officials responded to search and clear the store.

The evacuation at the Clinton Walmart came just hours after the bomb squad was called to a Clinton, Utah neighborhood after “homemade explosives” were found on Wednesday morning. Due to the homemade explosives, authorities issued a shelter-in-place order for residents, which has since been lifted.

At about 5:15 p.m. EST, employees were given the all clear and were allowed to return back to work.

Utah is one of 31 states in the United States that allows the open-carry of firearms. That is all the information available at this time.

The evacuation at the Clinton Walmart is just the latest in a series of evacuations, lockdowns, and shootings that have occurred in the United States over the last couple of years. Despite the staggering death totals, the nation’s lawmakers have been slow to shore up our country’s gun laws.

According to data from the Gun Violence Archive, a total of 100 mass shooting incidents have occurred as of May 17. In 2017, there were 346 mass shootings in the United States.

The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2018 kicked off its event on June 12 with a wide assortment of impressive new video games and products for the public to browse. The video game trailers were especially exciting. Here are the top 20 best video game teasers from the convention.

20. Tunic

Previously known as Secret Legend, Tunic rebrands with its new and improved adventure gameplay. Players battle monsters, uncover secrets and explore all around as they navigate from the perspective of a brave fox. Its similar to the Legend of Zelda, series although instead of an androgynous warrior elf, you’re a fox.

19. Beyond Good And Evil 2

As far as the cinematic trailer goes, it’s hard to say how the game will function. So far, Ubisoft has confirmed that original characters Jade and Pey’j will return but has not made it clear exactly when. The first installment of the Beyond Good And Evil series was all the way back in 2003, making this game a long time coming. Check it out.

18. Spider-Man

As you may have guessed, you can play as Spider-Man in Insomniac’s newest release. The 7-minute long trailer provides some good insight into how the game plays, the graphics, and the abilities of this Spider-Man adaptation as well. Scorpion, Rhino, Vulture, Mister Negative, and one mystery villain make an appearance.

17. Rage 2

Rage (1) wasn’t reviewed especially favorably the first time around, but it’s hard to say the sequel doesn’t look like a great time. I’d say it’s a nice mix of Halo, Destiny, and Mad Max if you can imagine that. If you can’t picture that, take a peek at this trailer.

16. Smash Bros Ultimate

Here’s everything you need to know in this twenty-five-minute trailer in a couple seconds. Smash Bros Ultimate looks super cool and has every character from every smash bros game ever. It’s basically Infinity War. The characters are:

Halo is unarguably one of the greatest video game series ever to be created, but this trailer leaves something to be desired: specific information. What we do know is that Master Chief is returning and the game is being developed by 343 Industries. The iconic Halo artwork and designs are staying relatively the same, but are certainly being enhanced by a brand new “Slipspace Engine,” whatever that means. Halo looks like a movie, and I’m hyped.

14. Just Cause 4

Just Cause, the open world action-adventure game is back with superior graphics, augmented physics, harder enemies and new customizable features. Rico Rodriguez, a “rogue agent on a mission” is ready to “challenge everyone and everything he knows.” Rodriguez arrives in Solis, a fictitious South American Country that is seemingly beautiful on the outside, but corrupt and oppressed on the inside. There is certainly no shortage of explosions, vehicles, and firefights in Just Cause 4.

13. Fallout 76

The big reveal in Fallout 76 is the new multiplayer feature. In an enormous wasteland, players can choose to be productive and diplomatic, or destructive and aggressive. Build a settlement, or burn one to the ground, it’s your prerogative. You’ll also be able to access nuclear launch codes to get a firm advantage over your enemies.

12. Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Set in Ancient Greece, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is filled to the brim with beautiful landscapes, compelling narratives, and unmatched action. Explore the enormous world and choose your own destiny with new role-playing mechanics for the first time.

11.Ghost of Tshushima

Yet again, the graphics in this game are so life-like it’s kind of scary. Ghost of Tshushima plays a lot like a Japanese version of Assassin’s Creed. There is A LOT of gore along the way and plenty of accompanying “gushing” sounds too. Betrayal and action make this game a favorite. Weeaboos, this one is for you.

10. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Actually, Weeaboos, this one is for you too. This Samurai-inspired adventure tale is expected to be particularly hard, but the storyline looks like it’ll be worth it in the end.

9. Gears 5

Gears of War is back with the 5th edition of the series. Kait Diaz, who had appeared in Gears of War 4, is getting her big break as the main character this time around. Two new landscapes, Jungle and Arctic are available as well and several new enemies are making an appearance too. Diaz is an independent free-thinker who doesn’t play by the rules or follow directions, so getting to control her every move entirely should be a lot of fun if nothing else. It should be fun for other reasons too though!

8. Jump Force

Aye, Weeaboos, you still here? Check this out. Jump Force unleashes a reunion of classic anime heroes from the Shonen Jump universe. Characters include Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece, Goku from Dragon Ball, Naruto from Naruto, and Light and Ryuk from Death Note. 

7. Anthem

Well, the future is looking pretty bleak for this post-apocalyptic, godless, dystopian rendering of a world plagued by monsters, aliens, and robots. Nonetheless, getting to fight all those things at once looks like a great time. Plus, these graphics are probably the best ones yet. Weeaboos, you can probably stop reading…or can you?

6. Unravel 2

Not familiar with the Unravel universe? It is nothing like anything on this list. In a peaceful earth-like world, two humanoid balls of yarn do a lot of stuff together. It’s cool, I promise. Go on adventures in a sweet, relaxing gameplay. And play with a friend!

5. Forza Horizon 4

What’s Forza Horizon 4, you ask? Well, imagine Grand Theft Auto, just without the “Grand” or the “Theft.” What you’re left with is “Auto,” and that just about sums up Forza Horizon. In an open world multiplayer universe, you can link up with other Forza Horizoners in real time. Plus, the weather changes for the first time.

4. Wolfenstein Young Blood

Girl power for the win. If your hatred for Nazis has been reignited lately along with your fervent support of feminism, Wolfenstein Youngblood is tailored perfectly for you. Kick back with a friend and shred Nazis in the shoes of two grand-daughters of a former Nazi resistance leader in 1980s Paris.

3. Sable

Due to the fact that there are no obvious gameplay reveals or cutaway scenes, your guess is as good as mine on this one. Watch the trailer, make an educated guess. I’m thinking Sable is like an Asian Starwars, what about you? This was the big payoff, Weeaboos, you are dismissed.

Satan gets owned pretty hard in the highly anticipated 5th release of the Devil May Cry series. Nero, the Archduke of Badassery gets a brand new robotic arm and massacres demon spawn left and right with the help of his upbeat, rough and tumble, cigarette-smoking girlfriend.

Jordan McNair, a redshirt freshman for the Maryland football program, passed away on Wednesday at age 19. The offensive lineman’s death comes two weeks after he was hospitalized following a team workout. The Maryland athletic department confirmed the news of his passing. Terrapins head coach DJ Durkin issued a statement on McNair’s death.

“Our team is heartbroken with the loss of Jordan McNair,” Durkin said in a statement. “Jordan was an incredible young man, and his passion and enthusiasm made him an invaluable and beloved member of our team. Jordan was a hard worker and he always had a smile on his face. He was an extremely talented football player and a humble and genuine human being. He embodied the essence of what it means to be a teammate. Jordan was a fighter. Over the past few weeks, Jordan never gave up with his family, friends and team by his side. Our team will continue to be inspired by the spirit of this brave fighter. Please continue to pray for Jordan’s family during this difficult time.”

Jordan McNair Cause of Death: Currently Unknown

There is currently no official word on McNair’s cause of death. However, the 6-foot-4, 325-pounder was hospitalized on May 29 following an organized team workout. McNair was airlifted to the local hospital after the session, though the university has remained quiet about the exact details that led to his hospitalization. While in the hospital, McNair received a liver transplant and was “fighting for his life.”

Maryland acting athletic director Damon Evans issued a statement confirming McNair’s death on Wednesday afternoon.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of one of our student-athletes, sophomore football player Jordan McNair,” Evans said. “Jordan was a tremendous athlete, student, teammate and friend, and he will be sorely missed. We offer our deepest condolences to his parents, family and friends. … For those who had the opportunity to know Jordan, you understand the sadness we are feeling.

“Our thoughts and support continue to be with his family as they grieve the loss of this outstanding young man.”

Jordan McNair was a four-star recruit for the Terps out of McDonogh High School. McNair had long been on the radar of Division I programs from the moment he was named to MaxPreps’ Sophomore All-American team. During his time at McDonogh, McNair was a two-time All-Metro offensive guard. As a true freshman at Maryland, McNair appeared in one game.

In this week’s edition of “predictable news”, we have these two dudes who were arrested at the Bonnaroo music festival in Manchester, Tennessee over the weekend for both possessing and selling a ridiculous amount of drugs.

Dalton James Subbert, 23, and Michale John Feehan, 26, — prized exports of Minnesota — were likely discussing the merits of running year-round garage sales that only sell weird vintage knives when Coffee County Sheriff’s Investigator Brandon Reed saw a bag of weed openly chilling on the center console of their car. Reed decided to have a “little talk” with the pair and searched the vehicle, which probably entailed accidentally knocking over a can of Monster filled with piss. Coffee County’s finest, we salute you.

All together, the deputies found approximately 10 oz of mushrooms packed in 60 bags, 7 bottles of acid, approximately 2 oz Ketamine in 56 bags, 21 grams of marijuana in 7 bags, 1,100 hits of acid, approximately 9 marijuana gummies, 1 bag of marijuana wax, ½ gram in 2 bags of Molly, 3 Xanax pills and 24 unknown white pills. Also, allegedly found were 2 sets of digital scales, 2 marijuana pipes, and baggies along with $7,698 in cash in various denominations.

Since this was the last day of the festival, these were most likely just the leftovers that they couldn’t sell, so who knows how much they brought in when they arrived. It’s honestly impressive that they got as far as they did, considering that they look like characters from the parts of Go Ask Alice that scare little girls into not smoking weed until high school. However, that feat was overshadowed ten times over when they essentially invited the cops to a car full of drugs by leaving out a bag of a substance that virtually no one would’ve cared about if they made the slightest effort to hide it.

The lovely couple was charged with four counts of manufacturing/delivering/selling/possession of controlled substance, schedule I and VI drug violations and unlawful drug paraphernalia uses and activities. Subbert was also charged with six counts of being a white guy with dreadlocks.

It would be easy to roast these guys more (this mugshot of Subbert from only three years ago is especially tempting), but that would be kicking two dead horses that each has to pay a $39,500 bond. Let’s just all pray for the dogs that undoubtedly sit with Subbert and Feehan in front of closed dive bars as they drink ’40s out of paper bags.

Moral of the story: don’t judge a book by its cover … unless it has these guys’ faces on it, in which case you totally should.

If you’re going to tune in to the 2018 FIFA World Cup, you’re going to notice Olga Berezutskaya in the crowd. You may not know who Olga is immediately, but you will soon get familiar as she’s the wife of Russian soccer star Vasili Berezutski, who is also a defender for CSKA Moscow. Because Russia is the host nation for this year’s tournament, she will get plenty of opportunity for air time beginning with the first game of the World Cup on Thursday, June 14 between Russia and Saudi Arabia in Group A play.

While Vasili is the only current professional athlete in his family, the 23-year-old Olga has an impressive sports background of her own. Olga, whose parents played professional basketball, was the second-ranked adult in artistic gymnastics before having to give it up due to a lung issue. She was also a synchronized swimmer and became a Russian champion in the pool. Unfortunately, she switched to dance and never had a chance to qualify for the Olympics.

The couple has one child, a son named Vova, who was born in 2010.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup officially kicks off Thursday, June 14. Ahead of the first match of the tournament between host nation Russia and Saudi Arabia, the Opening Ceremony will be held at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow. The ceremony begins just 30 minutes before the match is scheduled to kickoff.

Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) said this year’s opening ceremony will focus more on musical acts. The headlining act of the opening ceremony is Robbie Williams, while Russian opera singer Aida Garifullina will also be part of the performance.

“I’m so happy and excited to be going back to Russia for such a unique performance. I’ve done a lot in my career, and opening the FIFA World Cup to 80,000 football fans in the stadium and many millions all over the world is a boyhood dream,” Williams said in a statement.

The FOX Sports reporter was previously seen alongside Match of the Day host Gary Lineker during the World Cup draw back in December which took place at Kremlin Palace in Moscow. Maria is a veteran journalist and has been a popular television personality in Russia for the past decade. She burst onto the scene for American fans during her coverage of the Confederations Cup.

Other reporters contributing to FOX Sports’ World Cup coverage are Rachel Bonnetta, Sergey Gordeev, Rodolfo Landeros, Geoff Shreeves, and Jenny Taft.

In case you forgot, June 14, 2018, is National Bourbon Day! What better way to celebrate than with a freshly made cocktail to unwind after a long day. Check out these top 5 bourbon-based recipes that are easy to make and even easier going down!

Mint Julep

Sparkling Bourbon Pear Cocktail

Ingredients:

For the Roasted Pear Puree:

• 2 bartlett pears, cored and sliced into eighths
• 3 1/2 tablespoons fresh juice, from two lemons
• 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

For the Bourbon Pear Mixer:

• 1 cup roasted pear puree
• 2 cups Four Roses Yellow Label Bourbon
• 1/2 cup maple syrup

For each cocktail:

• 1/4 cup Bourbon Pear Mixer
• 3 tablespoons chilled sparkling wine (from 1 bottle)
• Ice
• Additional ground cloves for garnish

Directions:

1. For the Roasted Pear Puree: Preheat oven to 375°F. Arrange the pear slices on a parchment-lined baking sheet and roast until the underside of each slice begins to caramelize, about 20 minutes. Let cool to room temperature. Add to blender with lemon juice and ground clove and purée until very smooth, or purée in a bowl with an immersion blender.
   
2. For the Bourbon Pear Mixer: In a pitcher or quart jar, stir together pear puree, bourbon, and maple syrup. Refrigerate until ready to use, up to 4 hours. Stir before serving.
3. For each cocktail: Fill each glass with ice, add the bourbon pear mixer and top with sparkling wine. Stir once and sprinkle with ground clove to serve.

Bourbon Peach Tea

Ingredients:

For tea

• 8 cups water
• 4-6 family size tea bags

Peach Simple Syrup

• 2 to 3 peaches, peeled, diced, and pureed in a food processor
• 3/4 cup granulated sugar
• 3/4 cup water

For Cocktail

• 8-16 ounces bourbon, depending on how strong you want each drink
• Garnish – peach slices and mint leaves

Instructions:

1. Prepare tea. Boil 8 cups water in a pan on the stove. Remove pan from heat and place tea bags in water. Allow to steep 5 minutes. Discard bags after 5 minutes and refrigerate tea to cool.
2. Prepare simple syrup. Boil 3/4 cup sugar, 3/4 cup water, and pureed peaches in a small pan on the stove for 1 minute. Set aside to cool.
3. Make cocktail. Fill glass 1/4 full with peach simple syrup, 1/4 full with bourbon, add ice and tea to fill the glass. Stir. Enjoy.

The 2018 World Cup has finally arrived and we’ve all been paying very close attention to the teams. We know the starting line-ups, we have our predictions about which team is going to win which match and we picked our favorite players that we’re going to follow religiously for the next month.

However, here are five captains that you may or not be aware of. Some of the faces will be familiar while others may be brand spanking new. As we all know, there are the obvious two: Ronaldo from Portugal and Messi from Argentina. These two soccer hotshots will definitely draw insane attention, but don’t let the hype drown out the talent of other noteworthy captains who are going to be just as crucial to their team’s success.

1. Essam El Hadary

The Egyptian goalkeeper will make history as soon as he steps on the field and the whistle blows. At 45 years old, El Hadary will be the oldest player and captain in World Cup history. The previous title of oldest player was owned by former Colombia goalkeeper Faryd Mondragon. This is also the El Hadary’s first ever time playing in the tournament. Ironic.

2. Harry Kane

On the contrary, you have Harry Kane who’s the youngest captain in the cup. It’s a no-brainer that the 24-year-old is wearing the coveted armband, the same one previously worn by Wayne Rooney and David Beckham. The Tottenham Hotspur striker is a natural leader and it doesn’t hurt that he’s scored over 100 club level goals in the past four seasons. Kane also has his eyes set on taking home the Golden Boot award for the tournament. I mean there is obvious competition from Messi, Ronaldo and Salah, but after losing the award to Salah this past season, Kane’s fueled by redemption.

3. Aron Gunnarsson

Iceland are the new kids on the block for this year’s tournament. The rookies have some promise. They’re not exactly expected to go far, but if anything they will certainly be interesting to watch. The small country has more sheep than people but also has more pride than sheep. Point being, they’re amped and ready to show what they can do. Gunnarsson helped lead his team to the quarter-finals during the 2015 European Championships and now they’re here to face the World Cup. The 29-year-old midfielder recently suffered a knee injury with his club team, Cardiff City. Despite this, he’s expected to be a strong central force.

4. Radamel Falcao

The Colombian superstar took a brutal hit back in 2014. He succumbed to a knee ligament injury that prevented him from participating in the 2014 World Cup. The 32-year-old is his country’s all-time lead scorer and after watching Colombia make it to the quarter-finals of the tournament, only to be knocked out, you know he’s looking for revenge. There’s no doubt Falcao is going to come out guns blazing.

5. Manuel Neuer

The keeper has only recently come back after nine months due to injury, but he’s still just as impressive. The 32-year-old is crucial to Germany’s style of play. Neuer acts as both goalie and sweeper which allows his players to sit higher on the field and press faster. Germany used this tactic in the 2014 World Cup and it worked pretty well for them. Let’s see if it will help carry them to victory this year.
