There will be new pace-of-play rules in Major League Baseball starting this season. Some people are happy about it while many others aren’t pleased at all like Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz. Ortiz called the new rules “bull****” and said he “might run out of money” because he is not going to change his game. Ortiz isn’t pleased that the hitters are facing all the new rules while pitchers didn’t get the same major changes put on them. He is famous for stepping out of the box, taking a moment to look around, fix the batting gloves and then getting back in. He could run out of money especially if he steps out 15-20 times a game. At 20 times a game, Ortiz would lose $10,000 per contest.
When Ortiz was asked about it on Wednesday, it even sounded like he didn’t know the rule was even put into existence. Maybe he should have made a quick check to see if any of the rules changed over the offseason. Who knows how the new rules are going to work but it sounds like the biggest critic is going to be Ortiz.
