The shooting of three muslim students near UNC Chapel Hill by Craig Hicks–allegedly over a parking dispute–has the entire UNC campus in mourning. One UNC Dentistry student (Deah Shaddy Barakat), and two North Carolina State students (Yusor Mohammad and Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha) are dead.
Not only has the hashtag #ChapelHillShooting been the #1 trend on Twitter all morning, UNC students have been sending their thoughts and prayers on YikYak, a popular anonymous messaging application.
Understandably, a lot of students believe the shooting was a hate crime so they’re showing their support for the Muslim community.
