Police are reporting that there was a murder-suicide on the University of South Carolina campus, inside a room in the new School of Public Health. The “all clear” sign has been given, so students are now safe to walk the streets.
Police are reporting two deaths, but will not release news on whether or not the two are students, faculty, or related to USC in any capacity. The only thing that they can say is that the shooting happened inside the new Arnold School of Public Health.
In these photos you can see that the doors of classrooms have been barricaded shut by chairs. Two male students are even standing guard near one of the doors.
Police responded to the threat with necessary force, sweeping through the school with AR-15 assault rifles and riot shields. You can see some of these officers in the photo below.
Details are still coming through as to what exactly happened here, and we’re sure that everything will come to light soon. Our hearts go out to these victims and any other victims of school shootings.
As always, please report anyone you believe might be troubled or who would need help.
This is a developing story.
