Marshawn Lynch has been giving the NFL a lot of money over the last few years for several different issues from obscene gestures to not talking with the media to possibly adding more on if he wore gold cleats during the NFC Championship Game. After Lynch was fined $20,000 again for making yet another gesture, Lynch tweeted something very interesting.
The problem is that the fine for Seattle Seahawks teammate Chris Matthews involved him grabbing his crotch as well after a touchdown and not shaking Lynch’s hand. There are plenty of problems with Lynch and the one he does things. It is the NFL’s policy for players to talk with the media. Obviously, Lynch is uncomfortable with that idea but he is a star player and the media is going to want to talk to him.
With Super Bowl XLIX Media Day coming next week, Lynch is likely going to try to find a way not to talk to the reporters in Arizona. The obscene gestures are simply over the line though. Lynch should know better than to do that even if he is trying to prove that NFL stands for No Fun League and taunting isn’t allowed. If the NFL wants to come down hard on Lynch for that, that would be accepted by everyone. Lynch needs to look at himself in the mirror though before making any more comments.
Here’s a look at the alleged crotch grab from Chris Matthews.
