Hall of Famer Wade Boggs is a superstar for more than just baseball. Urban legend has it that Wade once drank 64 beers on a cross-country flight from Boston to LA, although the Chicken Man has vehemently denied the seemingly absurd claim for years. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star Charlie Day confirmed Boggs 64 beer denial on Jimmy Fallon Monday night, claiming Boggs didn’t drink 64 beers, but rather an astonishing 107. While working with Charlie on the season 10 opener of It’s Always Sunny, Boggs explained that the number of beers wasn’t 64, but actually 107 and not on one flight, but throughout a full day. How the hell did he do it? It’s simple, he’s Wade Boggs. Boggs would arrive at the airport already 12 deep, pound back a number during the flight, more during the layover and then go out that night.
Is it possible? Sure, if he didn’t die from alcohol poisoning in the process. Probable? Probably not, but I’ve got to think, if anyone could do it, it would be Wade Boggs.
