It’s not getting the attention of House of Cards or the new Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer, but the Showtime network has released a new trailer for Season 2 of Penny Dreadful–and it’s kind of amazing. Eva Green needs the attention, too. She didn’t fare too well in 2014 after bombing at the box office as the centerpiece of Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Now she’s back in a classier production where she gets to do some non-vamping acting.
Of course, Eva is still pretty hot as a gal who’s caught up in turn-of-the-century London with Dr. Frankenstein and other literary figures trying to fend off evil forces. That probably includes people who want to dismiss Penny Dreadful as just a rip-off of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Season 2 is looking really intriguing, though. We’re getting Helen McCrory back as the bizarre Madame Kali, and she’s bathing in blood.
Probably the blood of virgins, too. Those were around back in turn-of-the-century London.
There are also some new faces–including one weird face who might be the Phantom of the Opera. Take a look and keep Eva Green in the spotlight. We can’t let Hollywood give up on her. Josh Hartnett needs the work, too…
