It was plenty to celebrate in Carolina Panthers coach Ron Rivera’s house over the weekend after the team won their first playoff game over the Arizona Cardinals. However, things got very scary for Rivera and his family early Monday morning when the family house caught on fire. Rivera and the other five people in the house all were able to get out safely and are alright. [lead image via WSOCTV]
According to television reports, it took more than an hour for firefighters to get the blaze under control and the family will need to look for new living arrangements for the time being. Rivera obviously has a ton on his mind as it is with the team preparing to make a trip to Seattle on Saturday evening to play the Seahawks in the NFC Divisional Playoff.
A tweet from ESPN’s David Newton (above) shows that the fire was mostly on the left side of the upper level of the home. There was smoke and water damage especially since a hole had to be cut in the roof. Hopefully Rivera can focus on the game after this incident that shook his whole family on Monday.
