Update: Oregon has announced that its players will be disciplined internally via ESPN.
It was a great day for the Oregon Ducks on New Year’s Day with their 59-20 smashing of Florida State in the first college football playoff semifinal at the Rose Bowl. However after the game ended, some of the Oregon players decided that it would be a good idea to begin mocking Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston and his sexual assault allegations.
In a video posted to Vine by Fox Sports West’s Bear Heiser (above), it shows a few players chanting “No means no” to the tune of a chant Florida State fans use. There were other videos posted as well that showed other players chanting similar things as well. Oregon has to do something with those players without any doubt.
Coach Mark Helfrich said in a statement late Thursday night that “we are aware of the inappropriate behavior in the postgame. This is not what our program stands for and the student-athletes will be disciplined internally.” That’s the best possible conclusion for Oregon’s side of things. Those players are likely going to be finding themselves not on the field for the national championship game on Jan. 12 at AT&T Stadium after their actions.
