Yes, there’s a whole new dimension to New Year’s hangovers now–courtesy of drunken revelers waking up to $199 fares for a 10-block ride courtesy of Uber. There’s a lot to like about Uber as an alternative to taxi cabs, of course. We’re usually supportive of the whole Uber idea. Of course, we’ve also been nailed with overpriced Uber fees during peak hours that didn’t really feel like peak hours. We have less sympathy for Uber riders who’ve been slammed with surge fees on New Year’s Eve. People should’ve expected that.
Anyway, a lot of people don’t know that Reddit has an Uber forum where drivers compare notes. It’s really interesting and deserves to be checked out by consumers. We’re kind of happy to report that a lot of Uber drivers weren’t able to take advantage of as many customers for this latest New Year’s Eve–although Twitter still has some horror stories. Read all about it on Reddit and try to be an educated consumer.
