There was going to be a lot of anger coming from former Nebraska coach Bo Pelini after he was fired by the university even after another nine-win season. Well, that anger came out in a way that Pelini probably didn’t expect it to be. Pelini let loose about Nebraska athletic director Shawn Eichorst during a meeting with his former players. We’ve learned that courtesy of the Omaha World-Herald, where reporters obtained an audio recording of Pelini’s epic rant. [photo: Jamie Squire/Getty]
Nebraska quickly came out with a statement condemning everything Pelini said and said that “it only reaffirms the decision that he should no longer be a leader of young men at Nebraska.” It was the wrong way for Pelini to go about it, of course. He should’ve known that someone was going to be recording every word he said just in case he went off. Which, obviously, he did.
Just consider this instant classic of a quote: “I didn’t really have any relationship with the A.D.. The guy, you guys saw him [on Sunday]–the guy’s a total pu**y. I mean, he is. He’s a total c**t.”
Pelini went 67-27 in seven seasons at Nebraska, and won nine or more games in every single season he was there. Pelini told the players that he would “rather work at McDonald’s than work with some of those guys.” That’s a strong statement as it is from a college football head coach. Pelini has taken his talents to Youngstown State but the end of his Nebraska run will be the thing everyone remembers now.
