Cinemanovels looks set to be the official lowest-grossing movie of 2014–so we can’t blame Lauren Lee Smith for looking so depressed as the lead character. She brought in a lot more fans with her short stint on CSI: Crime Scene Investigations, where she played a quirky investigator who was quickly tossed off the show. At least she got to return to CSI for an episode this year.
As for Cinemanovels–well, for one thing, it’s a tough title to pronounce. A lot of people probably gave up at the box office while they were trying to buy a ticket. The movie grossed a big $398 when it opened on July 3rd during a fairly slow holiday weekend. Melissa McCarthy would end up doing better than expected with her quiet comedy Tammy, while Cinemanovels sunk as the story of a young filmmaker dealing with her daddy issues over the estranged father who basically financed her career.
Yeah, that sounds exciting. We’d rather watch the second lowest-grossing film of 2014. It’s a horror film called Skinless. We wouldn’t expect much scary skinless action from the movie’s $2,000 budget, but it still brought in $400 at the start of 2014. That was probably from friends and family.
We would’ve paid to see Cinemanovels if we’d know about it, though. Lauren Lee Smith has some sex scenes in it. These pics should explain the rest of that–and now we’re going to see if the thing’s available for home viewing…
