Gracie Anne Muehlberger has been identified as the 15-year-old victim who died during the shooting at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, California on Thursday, November 15 when Nathaniel Berhow open-fired on the school quad, according to the Los Angeles County Coroner.
It was initially reported that Muehlberger was 16 years old, but the New York Post reports she had just celebrated her 15th birthday on October 10.
The shooting left two dead and three other victims injured in critical condition at nearby Henry Mayo Hospital including two males and one female. A second student, a 14-year-old male, also died in the hospital. The two students who passed away were among those taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The other victims included a 15-year-old female, a 14-year-old male, and a 14-year-old female. According to Mike Kuhlman, deputy superintendent of William S. Hart Unified School District, the three victims are in stable condition.
Berhow, who is just 16 years old and was a member of the school’s track team, is listed in grave condition after a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
The suspect was one of the six injured students who was found on the quad of the high school. He carried out the shooting on his birthday. The suspect pulled out a .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol and shot five victims before turning the gun on himself. The weapon “had no more rounds in it” when it was recovered.
