It’s a good day to be a Sonic the Hedgehog fan. A new trailer has been released for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie, and fans are rejoicing at the new look for the Blue Blur.

(@pyrefIy) Even at a casual glance, the difference is striking. Gone is the uncanny valley design that was unveiled earlier this year. His fur is brighter, as are his eyes. He no longer has realistic human teeth. His face looks closer to that of the Sonic we’ve seen in the games.
This marks something of a first for movies, as we haven’t seen a studio change the design of a character before release based on fan backlash before.

However, all is not perfect. With this reveal, something has been made clear. The animators are effectively going to have to work on every scene Sonic is featured in again. All of it. However, some fans have made it clear that they understand and are willing to wait things out if this movie were to get delayed a few months because of this development.
We will see how this movie develops as time goes on.
