The world of mixed martial arts and President Donald Trump continue to intertwine. This time around, MMA fighter Tara LaRosa found herself in the middle of a scuffle in Portland after an anti-Trump protestor allegedly attacked another woman. LaRosa came to the defense of that woman and tackled the protestor to the ground, according to The Oregonian.
LaRosa and a group of people were able to detain the anti-Trump protestor until authorities came to the scene.
The anti-Trump protestor, who described herself as a professor, approached a group of demonstrators who were doing a flag wave ahead of Veterans Day. That’s when a scuffle broke out with the woman telling LaRosa, “You’re antagonizing the city I live in.”
LaRosa calmly replied, “No, we’re not, we’re doing a flag wave. We’re not trying to fight.”
The 41-year-old mixed martial artist also claims that the woman bit through her hoodie, shirt, and bra and caused an open wound on her chest.
“At flag-waving rally in Portland, @TaraLaRosa says she had to take anti-Trump protester to the ground after the woman allegedly attacked another woman,” The Post Millenial editor-at-large Andy Ngo wrote on Twitter. “The group detained the self-described professor until police came. LaRosa says the woman bit her chest, causing an open wound.”
Here is the initial video that shows LaRosa holding the woman down.
And here are photos of the wounds that the protestor allegedly opened up on LaRosa’s body.
However, when it was all said and done, there were no arrests made due to conflicting reports of what actually happened during the altercation.
“There are conflicting versions of the events, so we are gathering all of the information we can and referring it to the district attorney,” Portland Police Sgt. Kevin Allen told the Oregonian.
What we do know is that you should be careful who you provoke on the street no matter how brave you are feeling or how triggered you may be by a display of patriotism, because they just may happen to be a professional MMA fighter.
