The Impossible Burger trend is in full swing, and Burger King is set to take full advantage. After the overwhelming success of its Impossible Whopper, the fast-food giant is set to test three new plant-based burger offerings in select markets. With the testing, Burger King will also become the first fast-food chain to offer meatless substitutes in kid’s meals.

Who doesn’t like giving kids the opportunity to be healthy?

According to The Takeout, the three new offerings will include an Impossible Whopper Jr., an Impossible Burger, and an Impossible Cheeseburger.

The items will be added to menus at 180 locations.

The markets that will have the opportunity to test the newest plant-based options include Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Augusta, Georgia; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Buffalo, New York.

Judging by the success the Impossible Whopper has had and as plant-based proteins continue to be more and more popular in the mainstream, it is likely only a matter of time until Burger King adds the three new Impossible burgers to menus nationwide.

“We expect eventually for Impossible to become the new normal, where generations will look up at their grandmas and say ‘I can’t believe you used to eat meat from an animal'” Impossible Foods CFO David Lee told Business Insider in an interview when the plant-based protein trend really started to take off.

One of the biggest issues for the Impossible burger is its high price range, with 12-ounces of their “meat” costing around $8 in supermarkets. Compare that to $3 for a pound of ground beef, and you can see why people may still be hesitant to choose the plant-based alternative.

But if the trend continues in favor of Impossible burger and the company is able to manufacture their protein at a much higher scale, it could be only a matter of time until plant-based proteins are the norm and accessible to all Americans.
