Buckle up, Star Wars fans: finally, Star Wars: The Mandalorian has arrived with the official launch of the Disney+ streaming service on Tuesday, November 12. While Disney+ is rolling out a number of series’ and classic fan favorites upon its launch, Star Wars: The Mandalorian was the most hyped and high-profile series available immediately.
The Mandalorian dropped its pilot episode on Tuesday with the launch of Disney+ and will release a second episode on Friday, November 15. From there, the series will release six more new episodes with the latest dropping each Friday.
“People were so fascinated with Boba Fett, just obsessed with this mysterious character. I feel like, in a big way, that’s the reason why we’ve got The Mandalorian now,” former mixed martial arts star turned actress Gina Carano said while discussing the series, according to USA Today.
The cast also includes Pedro Pascal, Carl Weathers, Werner Herzog, Giancarlo Esposito, Nick Nolte and Taika Waititi.
The lead character, Pedro Pascal, described the series as a “Western on steroids” and described his character as Clint Eastwood-esque because of the few lines and having to portray emotions through his actions.
“I think that George Lucas played with the Western undertones with the first movie, ‘Episode IV,’ and now they’re taking the suggestions of that tone and infusing it with steroids,” Pascal told Variety.com.
