The feud between Tulsi Gabbard and Hillary Clinton isn’t over just yet. The Hawaii Congresswoman is now accusing Clinton of defamation after the former First Lady and Secretary of State suggested in an interview that Gabbard is a “Russian asset” and being groomed by Russia for a third-party run, according to the New York Post.
The legal counsel for Gabbard campaign’s denied the allegation against the presidential candidate and is now demanding a retraction from Clinton.
“In making the statement, you knew it was false. Congresswoman Gabbard is not a Russian asset and is not being groomed by Russia,” a letter from the Gabbard campaign’s legal counsel read. “Besides your statement, no law enforcement or intelligence agencies have claimed, much less presented any evidence, that Congresswoman Gabbard is a Russian asset. This fabricated story is so facially improbable that it is actionable as defamation.”
The letter later described Gabbard as “a patriotic loyal American, a sitting four-term United States Congresswoman and a Major in the United States Army National Guard” who is “a loyal American who has taken an oath declaring her allegiance to the United States of America both as a soldier and as a member of Congress.”

-V.The letter also asked that Clinton hold a press conference to retract her statements immediately, though there is no indication that Clinton plans to do so. Gabbard’s campaign also declined to comment on whether the Congresswoman would sue Clinton if a retraction is not delivered.
Gabbard currently sits as a longshot in the crowded Democratic field, but she continues to push for support in hopes of returning to the debate stage and once again making her case for the Oval Office alongside the top tier candidates.

Tulsi Gabbard Ethnicity & Heritage
Gabbard is the first Samoan-American and first Hindu member of the United States Congress. She was born in Leloaloa, American Samoa on April 12, 1981. Gabbard’s father is of Somoan and European ancestry and was a lector at his Catholic church. Her mother, meanwhile, was born in Decatur, Indiana and is of German descent.
While her father practiced Catholicism, Gabbard’s mother was a practicing Hindu which led to Gabbard choosing Hinduism as her religion as a teenager.

Gabbard was home-schooled throughout high school before heading to the Philippines for a two-year Christian missionary academy. Gabbard attended Hawaii Pacific University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.
Gabbard also spent time in the United States military as a member of the Hawaii Army National Guard. Gabbard served in a field medical unit as a specialist during a 12-month volunteer tour in Iraq. Gabbard obtained the rank of Major during her service. She continues to be enlisted in the Hawaii Army National Guard to this day.
To begin her political career, Gabbard served in the Hawaii House of Representatives from 2002 to 2004. She was elected at the age of 21 which made her the youngest woman to be elected to a U.S. state legislature. She resigned from her role as vice chair of the Democratic National Committee to endorse Senator Bernie Sanders during his 2016 presidential campaign.
Gabbard announced on February 2, 2019, that she would be running for the Democratic nomination in the 2020 presidential race.
