Tyson Fury was born in Manchester, England on August 12, 1988. He was born the oldest of two siblings. Born three months premature, Tyson earned his name after the then-undefeated heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson. He grew up in Wilmslow, England alongside his brother Tommy. Tyson’s father was a professional boxer as well, and Tyson would often accompany his dad to the gym. Eventually, Tyson would go on to leave school at the age of 10 to pursue boxing himself.

Fury would see a very successful amateur career during the early 2000s. By 2006, he was already making a name for himself as a very ambitious boxer for his age. He had represented both England and Ireland in numerous competitions. In 2006, he won the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships.
