During Monday Night Football in Week 9 between the NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants, a black cat made a cameo. The cat made its way onto the field before a brief chase from security until the cat ultimately found its way to the tunnel and bolted out of MetLife Stadium.

Giants safety Jabrill Peppers noticed the cat during the game and had an entertaining quote regarding its appearance following the brief cameo.

“I ain’t superstitious or nothing but any time I saw a black cat or it went across me growing up, something bad happened,” Peppers said, according to the New York Post. “I kinda grew out of it now, but I still don’t like ’em. I wasn’t gonna go out there and get it.”

The cat was the star of the broadcast and now it is getting the star treatment it deserves.

On Tuesday morning, less than 24 hours after its appearance on Monday Night Football, The Checkdown took to Twitter to unveil a hilarious spoof documentary trailer for the cat that features current and former NFL head coaches.

Well done, and the legend of the Monday Night Football cat will live on in infamy.

And let’s not forget the incredible commentary delivered by Kevin Harlan during the broadcast.

“That is a touchdown! And the cat is elusive… kind of like Barkley and Elliott. But he doesn’t know where to go,” Harlan joked. “They’re trying to corner him. They got him in the end zone. There are state troopers all around this cat, which now climbs up into the stands. And the fans are running for their lives… Now it goes back onto the field again.. It’s running in the back of the end zone. And it runs up the tunnel.”

Kevin Harlan's Westwood One radio call of the cat on the field is, as you might expect, an all-time great call. How much of a pro is Harlan? He worked a sponsor read into it. pic.twitter.com/3x0MVNEHNY
