For the ninth year in a row, Jimmy Kimmel has brought back his hilarious YouTube challenge “I Told My Kids I Ate All Their Halloween Candy” on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The segment calls for parents to prank their children by saying all of their Halloween candy was eaten by their parents, with their wild reactions captured on video.
“I wanna say something to those out there who think I do this because I enjoy being mean to kids,” Kimmel said before airing the segment. “That is not true. I love kids. Not only do I love kids, I have written and illustrated a new children’s book called The Serious Goose. Now, this is not a joke. It comes out Dec. 3. It’s available for pre-order now and all the money I make from it goes to children’s hospitals here in LA and around the United States.
“Remember that for the next five minutes as we endure the tears of disappointed children.”
Anyone who is interested in purchasing The Serious Goose and having their money go towards the children’s hospitals across the country can pre-order the book on Amazon.
But for now, let’s laugh at some children and enjoy the 2019 offering of “I Told My Kids I Ate All Their Halloween Candy.”

For the ninth time we asked parents to pretend they ate all their kids’ Halloween Candy and post video of it to YouTube. Many of the disappointed kids from the first time we did it back in 2010 have now blossomed into fully-grown, disappointed adults. For those people who think Jimmy does this because he enjoys being mean to kids – that is not true. He loves kids. He even wrote and illustrated a new children’s book called “The Serious Goose” and all of the money he makes from it will go to children’s hospitals. It comes out December 3rd and is available for pre-order now.
