2019 Is almost coming to an end and 2020 is vastly approaching. The UFC has had an impressive 2019 as far as putting on some of the year’s greatest moments. The matches that took place in 2019 have set up some significant events for 2020. Whether it’s rematching that needs to happen or just two fighters that have been trash-talking each other on social media. The UFC is bound to have a great year with some of the match cards they can have. Let’s take a look at 5 potential dream matches for UFC in 2020.
5.Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic
There have been many talks about having Jon Jones make an appearance in the heavyweight division. There has been talking about Jones and Miocic going at it. Jon Jones has been on a tear as of late winning his last three fights, and he has been rumored to make a jump to the heavyweight division. Miocic just won the heavyweight title back against Daniel Cormier, so a match between Jones and Miocic would be a dream matchup for 2020.
4. Amanda Nunes vs. Valentina Shevchenko 3
Amanda Nunes has been a dominant force in the Bantamweight and Featherweight division, holding both titles in the respective divisions. Her two fights with Shevchenko have been both wins, but there last fight at UFC 215 could have smoothly gone to Shevchenko. Seeing one more fight to settle things between the two. It would be interesting to see if the UFC would book this match again because Shevchenko is the current flyweight champion. But they have a score to settle.
3. Jorge Masvidal vs. Nate Diaz 2
This fight was extremely hyped up the UFC even made a title for this fight. The Baddest Dude in the game in New York City at Madison Square Garden. There fight at UFC 244 did not go as planned as the fight was stopped short in the third round due to a significant cut on Nate Diaz eyebrow. The UFC has to give them another fight the fans felt like they were robbed of this fight.
2. Connor Mcgregor vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Jorge Masvidal or Nate Diaz
Connor Mcgregor’s last fight was in 2018, fans have not seen Mcgregor since his loss to Khabib. He has been active on social media, responding to everyone that has called him out. Mcgregor has a couple people ready to fight him, and there some matches we would like to see. Mcgregor vs. Khabib part two, fans need to see that match. Masvidal has been calling out Mcgregor, and they want back and forth on twitter the same thing with Justin Gaethje. Fans also need to say the conclusion to the trilogy between Diaz and Mcgregor. Mcgregor is expected to headline some events in 2020 after taking a year off.
1. Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Tony Ferguson
This fight has been scheduled on four separate occasions but has been canceled all four times. Fans have been waiting to see this match for years now, and these two have gone back and forth, and when this fight does happen, it will be a big-time fight. Maybe 2020 will be the year that we actually get to see these two settled their problems in the octagon.
