Deshaun Watson has been wearing a visor to protect his injured eye, but in Week 9 when the Houston Texans took on the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley Stadium in London he ditched the visor as his eye continues to improve.

Watson then went on to throw for 201 yards and 2 touchdowns in the Texans’ 26-3 win on Sunday morning.

But how was Watson able to have his eye heal so quickly? According to the signal-caller, the secret to his speedy recovery was a beloved menu item from a fast-food restaurant chain. Enter the viral Popeyes Spicy Chicken Sandwich.

Watson revealed the sandwich was the secret to his recovery while speaking to reporters after the game.

“I’ll tell you what the key was — the Popeyes spicy chicken sandwiches that I ate this week, that helped the eye,” Watson told NFL Network.

“Man, shout out to Popeyes. They sent me, I shouldn’t be eating fast food, but I don’t know, I guess my background is just, I love it, so I don’t know, it just kind of, we got ties, shout out to Popeyes.”

When the sandwich first became a viral sensation, it took just two weeks for Popeyes to run out of what was supposed to be a seven-week inventory.

“We didn’t expect to break the internet, and as a result we had the entire nation really excited about the Popeyes Chicken Sandwich,” CEO of Restaurant Brands International José Cil said at the time the product initially ran out. “As a result, we ran out much sooner than anticipated.”

This is more evidence than ever that when the people speak, the companies listen and now the sandwich is a permanent menu item.

Up next for the Texans is a bye week before returning to action for meeting with the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, November 17. Kickoff at M&T Bank Stadium is set for 1:00 p.m. ET on CBS.
