A new autopsy photo shows the exact bone Jeffrey Epstein broke in his neck before he was found dead inside of his jail cell in the Metropolitan Correctional Center. According to Law&Crime, an autopsy showed the 66-year-old convicted pedophile suffered five broken bones in his neck.
Epstein suffered two fractures on each side of his thyroid cartilage, and one break on the left side of his hyoid bone.
“Those three fractures are extremely unusual in suicidal hangings and could occur much more commonly in homicidal strangulation,” said Dr. Michael Baden. “I’ve not seen in 50 years where that occurred in a suicidal hanging case.”
Reports had previously surfaced regarding Epstein’s broken hyoid bone, but this is the first visual evidence we have seen.
The hyoid bone is described as “a horseshoe-shaped bone situated in the anterior midline of the neck between the chin and the thyroid cartilage. At rest, it lies at the level of the base of the mandible in the front and the third cervical vertebra.” While the bone has been known to break in cases of suicide by hanging, it is generating attention because of medical experts pointing out the bone is more commonly broken in homicide cases. More specifically, experts say the hyoid bone breaking is more commonly seen in homicide by strangulation.
Just 24 hours prior to the disgraced financier and convicted pedophile being found dead in his Manhattan jail cell, court documents were unsealed that named a bunch of powerful and wealthy men including a prince and multiple politicians. There is also the fact that prison guards did not check on Epstein every 30 minutes on the night of his death despite that being a requirement.
Epstein had also recently been taken off of suicide watch, while his cellmate was transferred in the days prior to his death.
While we wait for answers, Attorney General William Barr has stated that multiple investigations have been launched as the Department of Justice attempts to get to the bottom of how Epstein passed away.
