Ben Simmons was the legend who emerged from Wednesday night’s fight between Joel Embiid and Karl-Anthony Towns. After Embiid and Towns mixed it up, it was Simmons who came to the defense of his teammate and ultimately ended up on the back of Towns.

It was then that Simmons sunk in a rear-naked chokehold.

Then, came the laughs.

NBA Twitter had a field day when a closer look at the video showed that Simmons caused Towns to tap out. It was the perfect marriage of basketball and mixed martial arts for fans who are eager for this weekend’s UFC 244 clash in New York City.

Who doesn’t love a good throw down on the court? It will be exciting to see what happens when the two teams come face-to-face the next time on March 24.

But when it comes to Embiid and Towns, it was the Timberwolves big man who had the last laugh.
