As the 2019 college football season nears its final month, the top awards in the country are narrowing down their lists with the Maxwell Football Club announcing semifinalists for two awards — the Maxwell Award and Chuck Bednarik Award.
On Tuesday, October 29, the 20 candidates for each award were announced.
The Maxwell Award is presented annually to the Collegiate Player of the Year, while the Bednarik Award goes to the Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year. Last season, the Alabama Crimson Tide swept the awards with quarterback Tua Tagovailoa claiming the Maxwell and defensive Allen Josh Allen taking home the Bednarik Award.
