The Oklahoma Sooners suffered a shocking loss to the Kansas State Wildcats over the weekend which threw a wrench in their plans for the postseason and opened the door for a potential surprise contender to reach the College Football Playoff.

However, we have seen teams suffer major losses late in the season and still recover to reach the final four, but college football analyst Paul Finebaum has lost all faith in Lincoln Riley’s squad.

While speaking about the shocking loss, Finebaum declared the Sooners ‘done’ and said that Oklahoma has lost its case for the playoff.

“Oklahoma is done,” Finebaum said Monday, via WJOX. “Anyone who tries to argue that they’re not is just simply being foolish. There are plenty of teams around that are going to be in better shape than Oklahoma, including Oregon, another team that a lot of us gave last rights to. Oregon keeps surviving, but at least they’re moving in the right direction.

“The SEC was the biggest winner on Saturday. That’s easy to understand. The odds of the SEC getting two teams in the playoffs went up dramatically.”

With the loss, Oklahoma fell five spots in the latest AP Top 25 rankings to No. 10 — showing they will need plenty of help if they hope to keep their national championship hopes alive. The top four teams in the country are currently the LSU Tigers, Alabama Crimson Tide, Ohio State Buckeyes, and Clemson Tigers.

On the outside looking are the Penn State Nittany Lions, Florida Gators, and Oregon Ducks.

Oklahoma will have the week off to regroup and refocus before returning to the field against the Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday, November 9. Kickoff at OU Memorial Stadium is set for 8:00 p.m. ET on FOX.

The Sooners then finish off the regular season against No. 12 Baylor, TCU, and rival Oklahoma State.
