California’s wildfires have led to a statewide emergency by Governor Gavin Newsome. Nearly 200,000 people were given mandatory evacuation orders after the wildfires broke out and NBA star LeBron James was among those impacted by the blazes.
LeBron took to social media to reveal that he was one of the residents who were forced to leave their homes as the fires continued.
“Man these LA aren’t no joke. Had to emergency evacuate my house and I’ve been driving around with my family trying to get rooms. No luck so far,” James revealed on Twitter. “Finally found a place to accommodate us! Crazy night man! I for all the families in the area that could be affected by these now! Pretty please get to safety ASAP.”
Images on social media show the severity of the blazes.
Fires have broken out in Sonoma County and near Santa Clarita. Both of those fires were reported to have been between 70 and 80 percent contained as of this morning. However, a mandatory evacuation zone remains in place from Valley Vista to Sunset as the Getty Fire continues to be an issue.
While some of the blazes have been contained, there is still a risk of additional wildfires due to the high winds that are being forecasted through Wednesday.
From ABC News:
The Los Angeles Fire Department is ordering mandatory evacuations after a fire erupted on a hillside near the Getty Center museum. The Los Angeles Times reports the Santa Ana winds began to pick back up Sunday night and were expected to last through Monday, increasing fire risks.
Our thoughts are with all of the families who are being impacted by the fires and we hope that everyone stays safe.
