The New York Jets suffered an embarrassing loss to the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football, with quarterback Sam Darnold putting on a dreadful performance. Darnold was mic’d up for the game and openly admitted that he was seeing ghosts on the field.

Well, the Jets are not happy that the comments aired.

Jets head coach Adam Gase sounded off on ESPN’s decision to air the comments when speaking to the media and was obviously upset that the network aired comments from their signal-caller’s sideline conversation.

“I think we’ll look into that pretty hard,” Gase said. “That was one of those things that was really disappointing to hear about after the game. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen that where somebody that was mic’d up was basically … a comment like that was allowed to be aired. It bothers me. It bothers the organization. We’re looking hard into our cooperation going forward.

“It’s just kind of part of the deal. Obviously, you’re never anticipating something like that happening. The fact that it did just gives us pause to really cooperate anymore. I don’t know how we can allow our franchise quarterback to be put out there like that.”

Jets running back Le’Veon Bell also voiced some frustration with ESPN for exposing Darnold’s mental state.

“The NFL screwed Sammy over,” Bell tweeted. “There’s not one player in the NFL who’s cool with having every sideline convo broadcasted to millions…there’s a reason we’ve never heard other QB’s frustrated on the sideline like that before…that’s crazy, @NFL did Sam dirty as hell.”

Darnold finished the game completing just 11 of 32 passes for 86 yards and four interceptions. Darnold’s QBR for the game was 0.7 with a quarterback rating of 3.6.

Next up for the Jets is a Week 8 clash against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, October 27.
