With the 2019 college football season in full swing, award watchlists are beginning to take shape and the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award is one of the first major awards to announce their full list of finalists. On Tuesday, October 8, the 2019 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award® presented by A. O. Smith has announced 20 players who are finalists for the award.
The award is given annually to the nation’s outstanding senior or fourth-year quarterback in college football.
Among this year’s finalists are Oklahoma’s Jalen Hurts, LSU’s Joe Burrow, Ian Book of Notre Dame, Oregon’s Justin Herbert, Jacob Eason of Washington, Michigan’s Shea Patterson, and more.
Last year’s winner was Washington State quarterback Gardner Minshew II, who has become a rookie sensation in the NFL after finding immediate success with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Past winners also include Clemson’s Deshaun Watson in 2016 and Mason Rudolph of Oklahoma State in 2017.
The 2019 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award presented by A. O. Smith will be presented on Wednesday, December 11, in Baltimore, Maryland.
